University-Community Partnership in Cuyahoga County: The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)
Tuesday Oct. 14 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 1914 Lounge, Thwing Center
On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, The Schubert Center for Child Studies cordially invites you to attend a presentation by, Mona Shediac-Rizkallah, Ph.D, Interim Director of the Center for Adolescent Health and Jean Frank, M.P.H. Manager of Community Initiatives Center for Adolescent Health entitled, “University-Community Partnership in Cuyahoga County: The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)”.
Najeebah Shine, M.S., R.D., L.D., Director, Community Health Services, Cuyahoga County Board of Health and David Harrison, R.N., B.S.N.,
Director, Health and Support Services Cleveland Metropolitan School District, will join us to discuss the practical application implications of this important issue.
The YRBS is an instrument designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide information
about the health risk behaviors of adolescents in the United States. Data are used to provide a clear, concise picture of
national trends as well as to track risk behaviors in many major U.S. cities. Locally, The Center for Adolescent Health at
Case Western Reserve University has been actively involved in the administration of the YRBS since 1996. Panelists will
present national and local trends in youth behaviors as well as discuss the value of local surveillance data. They will
highlight local collaborative efforts to use the data for youth programs.
This discussion will be held in the 1914 Lounge, Thwing Center, from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
A light lunch is provided. RSVPs appreciated but are not necessary.
