After hearing other people's views on the case, and reading about them in other blogs, I have to say I don't agree with what a lot of people say.

Mostly, I don't agree with how Bill Garrett acted. I have seen other people say he acted properly, and that he didn't need to help Jonah just because he is a black man. While this is true, it seems to me that he sent Jonah down a path all by himself by encouraging him to do something. I do not think Bill should have told Jonah it was a good cause, than sit back and watch as Jonah has to quit his job because no one likes him within the company. Bill needed to explain to Jonah what could happen. I would have been very upset with Bill afterwards, if he had told me I was doing the right thing, and in the end I was alone in the company, about to lose my job.

I completely agree with you Matt. As a senior employee at Coulding-Henson, Garret should have been completely aware of what Jonah’s chances of success would be in that situation. From this point of view, I think that you’re completely correct in stating that Bill had the responsibility of informing Jonah further of what could have possibly happened. In addition, Garret should have either supported Jonah after telling him to continue with the project, or, he should have simply told Jonah to not pursue the objective.
Also, I agree with your statement in saying that he is black is not sound reasoning to support Garret’s action. If anything, Bill should have been motivated by the cause and should have wanted to fully support Jonah. Therefore, I feel that not only does his skin color not make the act excusable, it only makes the action less forgivable.
