Performance Appraisals

Recently we had to do performance appraisals on our fellow HR Simulation team members. We were warned not to be too harsh, and also warned not to go too easy.

I had a slight problem with this. Every member of my group seems to be working pretty hard, and is chipping in with what needs to be done. Our leader is doing the most work of course, but everyone else has been making an effort to be included in journals/budgeting/graphing. I thought my team deserved high performance ratings, and I did not feel I should have lowered them just because we were told not to give high marks all around.

We have made out performance appraisals as well. It's a little scary to think that our peer appraisals are factored into our grades for the course. I am hoping that our group will not be too harsh. While I know that I have contributed to our group enough, putting your grade in someone else's hands is always risky. When I fill out mine for the rest of my team, I plan to keep this in mind. Therefore, I will not be too harsh, while making every effort to be as fair as possible as well.
