Spending by companies to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley law decreased on average of 44% for the past year. Many merely write it off as a learning curve effect, saying that business now know how to better handle the new regulations, and after learning how to handle it from last year, feel they are more knowledgeable and know exactly what needs to bo done to comply. This learning curve effect seemed to be more serious for large companies as well, as smaller companies did not see as dramatic of a cost decrease.
