Project Creation

Hey guys, just wanted a separate forum for the discussion of the project. Would we like to perform any of the tests described in the book to the class and in our small groups, or create one of our own. My first idea (which i'm still finalizing in my head) is a mock of the Harvard exam. I was wondering if it would be possible to use raising hands (left or right) and verbal descriptions to test the audience vs. online. Or should we pull down the projector and use the computer in the room to show an actual test? I bet it would be fun to have Prof. Case or our kind TA try one.

Thanks for starting this discussion. I believe that Prof. Case is going to set up "outside class" meetings with our groups to discuss this project in class this week. It will be good to have had some dialog before then. I like the idea of the idea of the Harvard test on screen, but I think it might take too long to actually complete. Maybe we could do screen captures of the different phases of the test and the output.

I like the idea of getting our ideas out here, but think that we'll probably have to schedule a marathon in-person session to bang this thing out once we have a better feel for what it is going to be. Thoughts?

I like the screen capture idea.... and I hate to say it, but a marathon session seems like the best option for hammering this out - one shot one kill. Would a straight up presentation be inappropriate? - I'm not the biggest powerpoint fan, but it could be the utilitarian solution.

how are people coming on the book? I'm almost done, but I'll admit I haven't made much time for it in the past 2 weeks or so.

I finally finished the book, so whenever we want to start this I'm game. I have a by-week in QUMM, so this week or next weekend would work for me.

I think next weekend is better for me. Can we pick a common house maybe a fri/sat and drink of choice and enough couches to crash on?

next weekend is better for me as well. I live in Hudson, so I doubt my place is central for everyone but if we're desperate I can accomodate folks.

Here's a question - do we generally agree with the ideas promoted in the book? I ask because I'm not altogether sure that I do. Anyhow, I'll try to come up with an idea worth posting in the next day or two.

Is this weekend still good for knowcking out this project? I'll volunteer my house on Sunday if people don't mind the trek. Otherwise, I'm opening to comming into campus and getting a study room or something. Let's set something up soon though before people start making plans for the weekend.
