Preparing for College Tip #1: Study
Take advantage of what’s left of the summer to prepare for your college search process. Whether you’ve just begun to think about which school to attend or you’ve already visited several colleges, these weekly tips will help you stay organized (and marketable to the college of your dreams). We’ll be posting a new tip each week for the next four weeks.
Preparing for College Tip #1: Study
It’s pretty obvious that you have to study hard to get into a good college. But, it’s not just how hard you study but also what you study that counts. The following is the recommended academic program for Case and most other competitive colleges:
- English: four years
- Social studies: four years
- Mathematics: three years(four if you are thinking about a major in science, math or engineering)
- Science: three years, two science labs(three science labs for engineering, science, math or pre-med)
- Foreign language: two or more years
How does your course load stack up? Colleges, including Case, will consider the difficulty of the courses you take and what is available in your school. If you can earn better grades or handle a more rigorous course load, make the adjustments now.
