Engage yourself in community service

One of the great things about having an urban campus is that it is much easier for students to get involved in the community. At Case, the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning facilitates that connection by providing community service activities for all students. CCEL offers regular weekday opportunities for service with its Case Serves program. These projects range from volunteering at the Cleveland Foodbank to playing games with senior citizens at a nearby retirement home. Students can also sign up for the campus-wide Saturday of Service, which is organized once a semester. For a more long-term commitment, eligible students can even use their work-study financial aid awards to obtain a paid position as a tutor or mentor in Project STEP-UP.

Hi,

I used to check on your blog all the time when I was applying to Case (and now I'm here and having an absolutely *wonderful* time!). I think I even remember commenting several times, once when I wrote that this was my first-choice college (and still is =)).

I just wanted to say what a wonderful communication tool you have here and to thank you for writing this blog. It really puts a face to the admissions office. I remember reading this blog before my interview for tips--and it was truly helpful to know that there are *people* in the Admissions office. =)

I really hope that the prospective students after me found the same welcoming environment that this blog sets up.

Thanks again and keep writing about what happens in the Admissions Office, if you can! =)
