Fall Festivities

Fall brings about a season of change with festivities for all students. October starts with our Homecoming weekend. The weekend starts with a morning tailgate party followed by a float parade around campus. Anyone can sign up a float and win various prizes and after the parade the Case Spartans faceoff against Denison University at 1pm. The Spartans are currently 3-0 for the 2008 fall season and last season we defeated Denison 45-6 so this looks to be another promising game. Afterwards there is another tailgate party with an Oktoberfest event hosted by the Alumni Association with authentic German music, dancing, singing, and cuisine. All of this is happening this Saturday and closes with the Homecoming dance under the stars with the tent opening at 9:30pm.

The real scare for students comes at the end of the month with Halloween at the Farm. Case Western Reserve’s Square Valleevue Farm is a 389-acre property that is host to a number of events and classes, but come October 31st it becomes ground zero for a Halloween festival. The event is open to anyone and everyone with events like a haunted hayride, pumpkin carving, costume contests for children 12 and under, and my personal favorite, a bonfire with live music all night long. For anyone who cannot or does not want to drive there will be free shuttles running from our Thwing student center from 4:30-11pm.
