Resignation of President Hundert: A Freshman's Thoughts

By now, most have heard that the President of the university has announced his plans to resign in September. This whole situation boggles my mind, and perhaps, this is the feeling the other students may (be) feel(ing). Perhaps it is my fault that I really wasn't paying attention to what was going on, but really I have to ask, what exactly was going on?
I know that we're facing a large budget deficit, and I've been told by several professors that they(or others) are unhappy due to the lack of communication between the administration and the faculty. I may be a bit out of place, but was I the only student somewhat blind sighted by this? And worse off, what will it mean for those of us who are looking forward to three more years at this university?
Will it mean more tuition increases, stretching those of us not on scholarship even closer to the limit? How does this look to the world outside of the Case bubble? It is surely an embarrassment for the President, but what about the university as a whole?
Many of these questions have been with me since the beginning of this ordeal, but few have been answered. It strikes me as odd that those I have asked have not had answers. Could it be that we can only guess where this will take us?
It may be my fault that I did not take the time to educate myself on the subject, but I am now thrust into this scenario with everyone else. I suppose that's the fun part...

Check out the videos on usg.case.edu, it isn't the whole story but it at least helps somewhat.
