Technology Fee Correction

Kevin Malecek, the director of the Evening and Saturday MBA Program, posted a message about registering for the Spring 2008 semester. A portion of that message was dedicated to explaining the Technology Fee.

When I ran for the Evening Academic & Student Affairs Chair position, one of the points of my platform was to reduce what I thought was a $500 fee per semester that a part-time MBA student attended 3 classes. It appears that I was incorrect. So, I'm sorry for misrepresenting this.

Here is the message:

Email List Archive for Part-Time MBAs

Brian Gray noted that the email list service at case does have a web-accessible archive of emails. The list service is located at:

http://lists.case.edu/

There are many, many lists, but most of the ones that are related to Weatherhead start with "wsom."

Post - It Bulletin Board

The GBSA has set up the Post-It bulletin board to increase communication among WSOM students. They have also created a forum specifically for "Part-Time MBA Students." I encourage you to visit and use the bulletin board.

Email mystery laid to rest

To recap... Some students, including myself, did not receive an email announcing the start and end dates of the latest GBSA elections.

After a short inquiry, it appears that some type of issue occurred with a few of the lists used to contact different groups of students that attend WSOM.

The email mystery

I talked to some more part-time MBA students and they too did not receive an email about the recent GBSA elections. I wrote to the GBSA liaison in Student Services tonight about the issue and suggested setting up an email archive which would be viewable online.

I also emailed another person in Student Services to have my blog's url published in the the next "Weatherhead Weekly News" email. Hopefully, you all will get it. If not, email me. <-- yes, that was a joke.

I also emailed the WSOM Data Manager to add a Part-Time Student section on the GBSA "Post-It" bulletin board. If you were not aware of it, it can be found at: http://weatherhead.case.edu/post-it/ .

Good night.

Evening Academic & Student Affairs Chair

On September 28, 2007, Whit Tice, the President of the Graduate Business Student Association, announced that I had won the election for Evening Academic & Student Affairs Chair to represent that part-time MBA students at the Weatherhead School of Management.

Interestingly, I never received an email on when and how to vote for the election. I guess enough of my fellow students agreed with what I had to say in my platform to vote for me.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to vote in the election. And thank you to those of you who voted for me.

The following was the platform that I ran on for this election...
