MGMT 250 - a 4 credit hour class?
Many students, myself included, feel that this course should be worth four credit hours instead of three. If you think about it, this makes perfect sense.
Most four credit hour courses occur due to labs or recitations. No, this class does not have either, but it's possible that our HR simulation could be counted as a lab.
Think about it. Our groups meet once a week, mine meets for about 2 hours typically, and then we go home and work on the write-up. That's what a lab is. You go to lab, usually once everyother week, works for a few hours, and then go home and prepare a write-up based on your results.
This class has a heavier workload than any other class I've ever been in. In my previouse major, statistics, I took about six classes which were cross-listed with a graduate class and in which over half the students were grad students, many of whom were twice my age. I've also take a graduate class with actual professionals; there were students who were in their 40's and had their MD's and PhD's. However, I've never had a class with this course load.
I'm not saying it's the hardest class by any means, but it is the most involved class I've ever had.
Is it possible to petition to make this class worth four credit hours? If it is, I think we should look into this, obviously not for this semester, but for future years and students.

I completely agree. It seems like I do much more work in this class than I do in my other 4-credit level classes. However, you are right we do not have a lab, but I feel like that does not even matter. My math class is 4 credits and we have three 50 min lectures and then a quiz on tuesdays. That extra 20 min gives it the 4 creit status. But, in reality, I spend an extra 5 hours a week on MGMT250 work.

That is a really good point. The first week we had this simulation my group met two nights for a total of about 5 hours! We just finished our annual report and I know I put in at least two hours on my part of it. If they continue to do this simulation in the future they need to make the class worth four credits. Unfortunately we won’t get to benefit from it, but someone else should.
