Hey web guys, check out this nice presentation/screencast (warning, 379M video) from Sean Kelly at NASA comparing some web development frameworks. I haven't even gotten to the Python parts yet and I'm excited. So there's something for you to watch while you're at work. Unlike many screencasts, this one is fast-paced and actually kept my attention.

As soon as the presenter listed "convention over configuration" and "no XML situps," you knew this was a Ruby on Rails presentation.
Haven't finished watching it, yet, though.
Boy are you in for a surprise...
Yea, just finished it.
Not wholly a Rails commercial.
It was more a "J2EE sucks" kinda thing (but who doesn't know that already?).
Good presentation, though. I like the rapid pace and overviews of the different frameworks.
It definitely put a big spotlight on Zope/Plone by suggesting that it was super easy with no code involved.
In reality, Python developers are in a love/hate relationship with Zope. On one hand, it was Python's first killer app, proving that Python could scale and solve lots of people's problems. On the other hand, developing for it is quite unlike developing anything else in Python.
Either way, it is incredibly impressive on technical merits. Zope really can do tons of impressive stuff without writing code, and Plone is a beautiful and complete CMS. But the one think they didn't think of was Joe Developer.
