Book tearing in Taiwan

Here is a disturbing news about a comic tearing incident happened in my home country, Taiwan.

Earlier this month, the Fengyuan City Library, a public library, announced that among the 8000 books of its legally-rated-for-everyone comic collection, 2000 were removed from the shelves for an indefinite time because of materials "not suitable for junior readers". As for the rest of the comic books, all "minorly improper" contents are covered by opaque tapes or teared.

This news didn't draw much attention of the public, but I am deeply disturbed. Although government control is not nearly as tight as in Mainland China, media in Taiwan is never really free, and local parent groups have nearly godly, almost never questioned power on what should (and should not) be presented in libraries and schools. (Very often it is also true to private, for profit book, comic stores and rental stores.)

Is there anything I can do?
