Jonah Creighton and Discrimination
The Jonah Creighton Case was a very unique case because it was more realistic than some of the other cases we have read thus far. It involved racial discrimination in the workplace against a recruit of the company. However, the grey area of this case was due to the fact that the discrimination began overseas. Even though it began there, it also spread to the U.S. because no one wanted to due anything about it, except for Jonah.
I think one of Jonah’s biggest downfalls was his assertiveness against his boss, Dan Newell. I think Jonah should have taken the case to the HR department and if nothing was accomplished there, then even further, such as court.
We need to remember that there are many cases of discrimination everyday. Nonetheless, we will all be affected by it sooner or later and ethics will determine our response to the situation. We need to keep in mind that discrimination does not only involve race, but also characteristics such as age, gender, and sex, and we may be experiencing it right now without knowing.
