Case Western Reserve University seniors, track star Esther Erb (Richmond, Va.) and wrestler David Manoogian (Green, Ohio), each have been named co-athlete of the week in their respective sports by the University Athletic Association.

The announcement was made on the UAA website.

Erb won two individual events and ran the anchor leg on a victorious relay to pace the Spartans to a runner-up finish in their own Case Western Reserve Invitational. Erb captured the 3,000-meter run in 10:19.01, then placed first in the mile run with a time of 5:06.33. Both times are the fastest to date in the UAA.

She capped off the weekend by running the anchor leg of the winning distance medley relay (13:07.88). Erb shared the honor with Washington University's Morgen Leonard-Fleckman.

Manoogian wrestled to a runner-up finish in the 141-pound weight class at the 2008 Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational, contributing to the Spartans’ 12th-place finish in the 27-team field.

Manoogian, who was seeded second among 24 wrestlers in the weight class, used three decisions and a technical fall to advance to the championship final, where he dropped a 4-2 decision to his opponent from NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis. Manoogian shared the athlete of the week honor with New York University's Naum Shuminov.
