Middle East Club, Thu Jun 23
Back to topMass Ave is dotted with little cafes, eateries, and bars all the way up to Harvard Square (and probably beyond.) We've walked past them many times, but have only been to a very few. Minna was bored and asked a local grad student for cool things to do on a Wednesday night. One of the was the Middle East Club, a small restaurant 15 minutes from MIT which doubles as a small bar and venue for local bands. We checked out the website to see what was on the menu and it was funk!!

Working for the Weekend...and a mugging, Mon Jun 13
Back to topFriday was a good time. We went out to dinner at Cinderella's again. I only ate some carrot cake. Mario and I went next door to Tuscani's for $4 ice cream. I know Mario is always up for getting ice cream with me, even when it is ridiculously expensive. It was also delicious: Mocha Chip. I feel like an overweight neglected housewife when I splurge on yummy ice cream.

Harvard Square, Fri Jun 10
Back to topMy first time to Harvard Square. I can't believe it was so busy on a weeknight. We walked all the way there in about 30 or 40 minutes. It was quite a walk but we spent the time talking and joking, so the trip went quickly. Next time, I'm taking the bus, though. It's worth 90 cents.

First Walk into Boston, Wed Jun 8
Back to topAfter arriving on Sunday, I met a few students and we travelled north up Massachusetts Ave. (Mass) for dinner. We didn't quite make it to Central Square, but were pointed to pizza/sandwich/pasta restaurant called Cinderalla's by a couple of local fraternity guys. The sandwiches are good but not outstanding at 7 bucks. I think the pizzas are the way to go.

Introduction - MIT Summer Program, Tue Jun 7
Back to topAll of my experiences here in Boston are told in the context of the summer program I'am participating in. When I say "we", I mean all the other students in the program. Because I am only here for 10 weeks, I (and everyone else) wants to see and do as much as Boston can offer before we have to leave.

The start of something awesome...maybe, Thu Jun 2
Back to topI was at Cornell 2 summers ago in 2003. I had such a great time and made great friends. I don't remember 10% of what I did.
Like most people, I have a problem recalling events from my life, except for the really significant ones. I can't recall first learning to poop in a toilet though. Oh well, we can't have everything. So instead of letting all the great times I have on earth dissolve into a warm, fuzzy memory of lukewarm happiness, I've decided to record them for posterity. The Mormon religion requires members to keep a journal, so it must be a good idea, right?
The only parts of my life worth telling happens when the plane I'm on lands someplace I've never been before. And so for the benefit of those who might try to follow in my footsteps, this public record contains the details of my hopefully exciting journeys across the world. I say maybe because they might not be exciting and/or there may not be that many journeys.
Boston, however, is a sure thing. I'm leaving on Saturday (June 4) for the airport in Kansas City and my flight to Boston is the next morning. Note to self: never move to a town that's 4 hours from a major airport. It's hard on your spine...
It's not vacation, but I'm doing as much exploring and sight-seeing as possible while I'm there. I need to pick up a travel guide or two before I leave. A few trips to New York City are also likely.
And starting in January, I should be on my way to New Zealand for a few months, and then the real fun starts.
