Trip of a Lifetime, Sat Mar 11, 2006
I'm going to New Zealand!! I've spent the last 2 years dreaming about an extended trip to NZ and the last 4 months planning the details and working full-time to fund the adventure, and now I'm finally going! I'm leaving March 26th for Santa Barbara (to visit UCSB) and then leaving on a jet plane March 30th for a 3 day pre-vacation in Fiji before setting foot on NZ soil for a 4 month solo backpacking trip.
This site is my personal journal, travelogue, and main point-of-contact for those back in the States. I'll record details of various adventures , profiles of people I meet or stay with, places I visit, and other misc. happenings I find interesting. I will also post some photos here with links to all the rest on flickr. Occasionally, I'll record an audio message using my Rio while in the wilderness and post it in lieu of a text post. You'll also notice the map on the right which will show my current location and journey and contain links to posts I made from major cities. (More to come on that.)
The organization/layout of the site will change as I tweak it, but that's just my obsessive-compulsive side asserting itself. I'll spare you the details, but I welcome any comments on design until I'm actually in NZ.
