What most people fail to realize is that the restaurant industry is quite important to our economy as a whole. The overall economic impact of the industry is expected to exceed 1.3 trillion dollars this year. 1.3 trillion dollars! This includes sales in other industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation. Here's another interesting fact; every dollar spent by consumers in restaurants generates an additional $2.34 spent in other industries and every additional $1 million dollars in restaurant sales generates an additional 3 jobs for the nation's economy.
With the industry sales forecasted to advance 5.1% in 2006, it seems like this could only lead to positive things for the economy as a whole.
