Comment on Man Suing Restaurant
In an earlier blog, I posted a story about how a New York man was filing a lawsuit against a fast food restaurant because of his belief that it has contributed to his obesity. I wanted to clarify a few things. First, I do not eat fast food anymore. After watching the documentary " SuperSize Me," I realized that most of the fast food we eat today is simply garbage and has little nutritional value at all. It has always angered me when individuals file lawsuits against restaurants when they think the food at these places has made them overweight. I feel that these people need to exhibit some level of self-control and simply not eat at these places! However, this may be easier said than done? I am not quite sure if these individuals are addicted to the food or what? The flip side to this arguement is the fact that certain restaurants such as McDonalds have been assuring us for years that they are going to lower the trans fat in their food, however they have not. I compare McDonalds, especially, almost with the likes of the tabacco industry. They definitely know their products are harming millions of people, obviously on a smaller scale, yet they don't choose to really do anything about it. It's all about the money to them. What it comes down to is the need for people to be informed about what they are putting into their bodies and if you know these things are harmful and continue to eat them then it may be your own fault...Something to think about..everytime you consume a certain amount of transfat, you have a 25% greater risk of having heart problems at some point in your life. I read this in an article recently in the Plain Dealer which was actually about McDonalds and the hazards of eating their food.
