Writer's Center Stage

In partnership with the Cuyahoga County Public Library and The Plain Dealer, Case Western Reserve University is a sponsor of the library’s 2006-07 Writer’s Center Stage series. The program features highly acclaimed authors of diverse backgrounds who share their life and experiences as an author. Held at the Cleveland Playhouse, participating authors included Frank McCourt, Angela’s Ashes, Amy Tan, The Joy Luck Club, Jim Lehrer, host of The NewsHour and author, as well as, Tony Kushner and George C. Wolfe, playwright and directors of Angels in America.

For each event, professors within the university’s English department facilitated book discussions by each featured author. Participating faculty included Thrity Umrigar, Judith Oster and Karen Beckwith. In addition, the Center for Community Partnerships donated 75 tickets to the Case campus, as well as, 25 tickets to students attending the Cleveland School of the Arts.
