Camera Reviews

Again, the five cameras reviewed were:
  • Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks
  • Logitech QuickCam Deluxe for Notebooks
  • Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP
  • Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000
  • Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000

Installing the software for these cameras was very easy. All the Logitechs used Logitech Webcam Software with Vid version 1.0, and all the Microsofts used Microsoft LifeCam 2.07. Both Vista and XP were tested. Once the respective programs were installed, the three Logitechs could all work and the two Microsofts could both work. Although the software installation took a long time (about ten minutes each), they were very straightforward and easy to understand.

When installing the Logitech Webcam Software, the Quickcam models were incorrectly read as "incompatible." This should be ignored, because they work just fine with the Logitech Webcam Software.

Here are some sample video stills and images to give you an idea of the clarity. Please note that the two Quickcam for Notebooks and LifeCam VX-3000 only have manual focus, so your results may vary.
