Rasmussen poll: Overwhelming MAJORITY of America backs Bush's "spying"

64% of all Americans back the wiretapping.
81% of Republicans back the wiretapping
51% of Democrats back the wiretapping
57% of independents back the wiretapping.

That's a majority of everyone. Why is the liberal media, especially the Democrat Anti-American Times (New York Times), investing so much in this? It's clear a majority of America wasn't dumb enough to buy the media's portrayal of our president protecting America from terrorists.

Colin Powell says - "absolutely nothing wrong with the president authorizing these kinds of actions"

Since the liberals always seem to talk up Colin Powell... him saying there was nothing wrong with spying without a court order should mean something to you libs.

I am not bashing Colin Powell... I have said... and always will say that he is one of our nations greatest leaders and deserves respect.

Powell, who also is a former chairman of the military Joint Chiefs of Staff, had no reservations when asked whether eavesdropping should continue.

"Of course it should continue," he said. "And nobody is suggesting that the president shouldn't do this."

US Sailor gives a heart warming gift to his foster mother

U.S. Sailor Donates Kidney to Foster Mother
Saturday, December 24, 2005

RAHWAY, N.J. — An ailing woman who has sheltered dozens of foster children over the years received an early Christmas gift from one of them: a donated kidney.

"I'm forever indebted to this young man for this gift," said Phyllis Klingebiel, 68, of the foster son who lived with her and her husband for 11 years. "He's a walking angel on this Earth."

Navy petty officer 2nd class Mark Greshan, 23, said the donation was a natural choice for a woman who cared for him from the time he showed up at the house as a 7-year-old.

"After six months, I knew this was my home," he told The Star-Ledger of Newark in an interview before the operation. "It wasn't 'foster child,' it was 'son."'

Klingebiel needed a transplant after a genetic kidney condition worsened in the last year. Matches from biological family members were not available.

"He called me up and said, 'I have a Christmas gift for you,"' Phyllis Klingebiel said. "'The bad news is that it's going to be early. The good news is that you're going to get my kidney."'

Herbert Klingebiel thinks of Greshan's donation as a reward for his wife's work with children. Over the past 30 years, the Klingebiels have tended to 67 foster children.

"God gives everybody a gift, and I guess her gift is helping children," he said. "I guess this just came around and God gave it back hundredfold, back to my wife."

Their operations were Tuesday, and Greshan, who received some time off from the Navy, is recuperating at home.

He said Saturday he was sore from the operation but was OK. He was waiting to hear whether his foster mother would be able to leave the hospital and join him at their home.

"Everybody's doing fine," he told The Associated Press.

A Washington times article on legality of spying without warrants

The Department of Justice believes -- and the case law supports -- that the president has inherent authority to conduct warrantless physical searches for foreign intelligence purposes and that the president may, as he has done, delegate this authority to the attorney general," Clinton Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick said in 1994 testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
More recently, the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court -- the secretive judicial system that handles classified intelligence cases -- wrote in a declassified opinion that the court has long held "that the President did have inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches to obtain foreign intelligence information."
In a 2002 opinion about the constitutionality of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and the USA Patriot Act, the court wrote: "We take for granted that the President does have that authority and, assuming that is so, FISA could not encroach on the President's constitutional power." Indeed, previous administrations have used that same authority. One of the most famous examples of warrantless searches in recent years was the investigation of CIA official Aldrich H. Ames, who ultimately pleaded guilty to spying for the former Soviet Union. That case was largely built upon secret searches of Ames' home and office in 1993, conducted without federal warrants. In 1994, President Clinton expanded the use of warrantless searches to entirely domestic situations with no foreign intelligence value whatsoever. In a radio address promoting a crime-fighting bill, Mr. Clinton discussed a new policy to conduct warrantless searches in highly violent public housing projects.

Why the disallow Christianity in the military?

Why does America have to keep catering to the minority? If the 20% of the military that isn't Christian doesn't want to pray... then don't pray... it's not that hard. How is catering to that 20% fair to 80% of those who keep us free. They are risking their lives for us. Why can't they express their faith?

Typical Associated Depressed

The AP claimed Katrina was the biggest media story of the year... yup... the one they made up. All the stuff like the rapes, the toxic soup, the murders everywhere... that all turned out not to have happened.

I don't see how Iraq electing a democratic government isn't the top news story of the year. IRAQ HAS A DEMOCRACY! How is that not huge?

They then refer to Bush's mishandling during Katrina... who says FEMA's so-called "failures" that weren't really failures are the main factor? Doesn't that add an element of liberal opinion? Ask any person with a level head and they'll tell you that the mayor and the governor are to blame for a large majority of it... It's funny how in Florida for wilma... it was the state and local governments that primarily addressed the issues.

CLINTON ADMINISTRATION SECRET SEARCH ON AMERICANS -- WITHOUT COURT ORDER

CARTER EXECUTIVE ORDER: 'ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE' WITHOUT COURT ORDER

Bill Clinton Signed Executive Order that allowed Attorney General to do searches without court approval

Clinton, February 9, 1995: "The Attorney General is authorized to approve physical searches, without a court order"

Jimmy Carter Signed Executive Order on May 23, 1979: "Attorney General is authorized to approve electronic surveillance to acquire foreign intelligence information without a court order."

WASH POST, July 15, 1994: Extend not only to searches of the homes of U.S. citizens but also -- in the delicate words of a Justice Department official -- to "places where you wouldn't find or would be unlikely to find information involving a U.S. citizen... would allow the government to use classified electronic surveillance techniques, such as infrared sensors to observe people inside their homes, without a court order."

Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick, the Clinton administration believes the president "has inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches for foreign intelligence purposes."

Secret searches and wiretaps of Aldrich Ames's office and home in June and October 1993, both without a federal warrant.

Federal Appeals court said in 1982 it's ok to spy

COURT SAYS U.S. SPY AGENCY CAN TAP OVERSEAS MESSAGES

By DAVID BURNHAM, SPECIAL TO THE NEW YORK TIMES (NYT) 1051 words Published: November 7, 1982

A Federal appeals court has ruled that the National Security Agency may lawfully intercept messages between United States citizens and people overseas, even if there is no cause to believe the Americans are foreign agents, and then provide summaries of these messages to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Because the National Security Agency is among the largest and most secretive intelligence agencies and because millions of electronic messages enter and leave the United States each day, lawyers familiar with the intelligence agency consider the decision to mark a significant increase in the legal authority of the Government to keep track of its citizens.

IMPEACH BUSH... wait... just kidding... it wasn't against the law. (I have the law in full text)

I have researched this further. There has been surveillance without a court order where it wasn't legally necessary. This has only occurred in cases where it was deemed legal by US law. However... checks and balances still exist.

It is in a law... congress can change that law.
The supreme court can declare that law unconstitutional.

Checks and balances still exist.

Sorry libs.... it's all right here... he didn't break the law.

Electronic surveillance authorization without court order; certification by Attorney General; reports to Congressional committees; transmittal under seal; duties and compensation of communication common carrier; applications; jurisdiction of court
Release date: 2005-03-17

(a)
(1) Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for periods of up to one year if the Attorney General certifies in writing under oath that—
(A) the electronic surveillance is solely directed at—
(i) the acquisition of the contents of communications transmitted by means of communications used exclusively between or among foreign powers, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title; or
(ii) the acquisition of technical intelligence, other than the spoken communications of individuals, from property or premises under the open and exclusive control of a foreign power, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title;
(B) there is no substantial likelihood that the surveillance will acquire the contents of any communication to which a United States person is a party; and
(C) the proposed minimization procedures with respect to such surveillance meet the definition of minimization procedures under section 1801 (h) of this title; and
if the Attorney General reports such minimization procedures and any changes thereto to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence at least thirty days prior to their effective date, unless the Attorney General determines immediate action is required and notifies the committees immediately of such minimization procedures and the reason for their becoming effective immediately.
(2) An electronic surveillance authorized by this subsection may be conducted only in accordance with the Attorney General’s certification and the minimization procedures adopted by him. The Attorney General shall assess compliance with such procedures and shall report such assessments to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence under the provisions of section 1808 (a) of this title.
(3) The Attorney General shall immediately transmit under seal to the court established under section 1803 (a) of this title a copy of his certification. Such certification shall be maintained under security measures established by the Chief Justice with the concurrence of the Attorney General, in consultation with the Director of Central Intelligence, and shall remain sealed unless—
(A) an application for a court order with respect to the surveillance is made under sections 1801 (h)(4) and 1804 of this title; or
(B) the certification is necessary to determine the legality of the surveillance under section 1806 (f) of this title.
(4) With respect to electronic surveillance authorized by this subsection, the Attorney General may direct a specified communication common carrier to—
(A) furnish all information, facilities, or technical assistance necessary to accomplish the electronic surveillance in such a manner as will protect its secrecy and produce a minimum of interference with the services that such carrier is providing its customers; and
(B) maintain under security procedures approved by the Attorney General and the Director of Central Intelligence any records concerning the surveillance or the aid furnished which such carrier wishes to retain.
The Government shall compensate, at the prevailing rate, such carrier for furnishing such aid.
(b) Applications for a court order under this subchapter are authorized if the President has, by written authorization, empowered the Attorney General to approve applications to the court having jurisdiction under section 1803 of this title, and a judge to whom an application is made may, notwithstanding any other law, grant an order, in conformity with section 1805 of this title, approving electronic surveillance of a foreign power or an agent of a foreign power for the purpose of obtaining foreign intelligence information, except that the court shall not have jurisdiction to grant any order approving electronic surveillance directed solely as described in paragraph (1)(A) of subsection (a) of this section unless such surveillance may involve the acquisition of communications of any United States person.

FLASHBACK: Democrat leader Harry Reid all smiles as the Patriot Act is signed

FLASHBACK: DEM LEADER HARRY REID ALL SMILES AT PATRIOT ACT SIGNING

THE DRUDGE REPORT has uncovered a photograph of President Bush signing the Patriot Act in the East Room of the White House on October 26, 2001. And standing over the President’s shoulder with a smile on his face is Democratic Senate Minority Harry Reid (D-NV)! Reid is currently leading efforts in the Senate to block the renewal of the Patriot Act.

After Reid successfully prevented the Patriot Act’s renewal late last week the Senator attended a Democrat political rally and proudly declared, “We killed the Patriot Act.”

One Republican strategist familiar with the photo said, “Democrats think they can regain the majority? Not a chance if they continue to put politics above what’s best for the country. Harry Reid is making a colossal miscalculation, but it's not the first time and thankfully for us, probably not the last.”

New Blogger, Welcome Matt!

I would like to welcome a new blogger to my team, Matt. Matt is a different kind of conservative. He is a proud libertarian constitutionalist. By adding him to the team there will be some different points of view for you to read. While I strongly agree with most of his economic beliefs, I do disagree with some of his social issue stances. However, despite my disagreements, I support his point of view and feel that by adding him to the staff, this blog will bring about more political awareness on issues facing college students.

The "spying" that Bush has done has checks and balances

Let me make this short and sweet:

The writers of the constitution defined checks and balances by defining 3 branches of government. They gave them the ability to check and balance each other.

Executive Branch - They can spy on terrorists to prevent them from killing us.

Judicial Branch - They can prevent this by having the secret court refuse a warrant to the executive branch where that is necessary. In cases where it isn't necessary... the supreme court can declare that law unconsitutional.

Legislative Branch - They gave the president the authority... they can take it away.

So... the executive branch's authority to spy on terrorists can be checked by BOTH other branches of the government.

Sorry libs... looks like another scandal that isn't a scandal.

The Patriot Act Should NOT Be Politicized

I can't believe that a little more than 3 years after 3000+ INNOCENT civilians were killed on September 11th... America is politicizing the Patriot Act. There is criticism all over the place about how Bush didn't do enough to find out about 911. Now... we have the Patriot Act. This act of congress PROTECTS US! Have there been any attacks in the US since? No! Have there been attacks thwarted? Yes! Have lives been saved? Yes! I understand that some people find this to be a violation of civil liberties. They still have to get approval by a secret court. This does protect our civil liberties. This also protects our lives...

I have been criticized for my criticism of democrats. I can say that any democrat or republican that helps to kill the patriot act will get my criticism.

The Katrina "Bush didn't help because he hates black people" proven to be a flat out lie

"Statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals suggest that fewer than half of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were black, and that whites died at the highest rate of all races in New Orleans."

So it's obvious that Bush hates white people. He used his magical powers to draw that hurricane to New Orleans to get'em.

A soldier's christmas poem

I read this poem and it really makes clear the sacrifices the troops are making to keep us safe and free. I wish the John Kerrys and Howard Deans of congress would leave our troops alone. It is my fear that the negative press the troops have been getting in recent months will effect the families. If you know someone with loved ones in Iraq defending our freedom, make sure you show them that you are there for them and you support our troops. Show them that you are thankful for the sacrifices they make every day.

'Twas The Night Before Christmas,
He Lived All Alone,
In A One Bedroom House
Made Of Plaster And Stone.

I Had Come Down The Chimney
With Presents To Give,
And To See Just Who
In This Home Did Live.

I Looked All About,
A Strange Sight I Did See,
No Tinsel, No Presents,
Not Even A Tree.

No Stocking By Mantle,
Just Boots Filled With Sand,
On The Wall Hung Pictures
Of Far Distant Lands.

With Medals And Badges,
Awards Of All Kinds,
A Sober Thought
Came Through My Mind.

For This House Was Different,
It Was Dark And Dreary,
I Found The Home Of A Soldier,
Once I Could See Clearly.

The Soldier Lay Sleeping,
Silent, Alone,
Curled Up On The Floor
In This One Bedroom Home.

The Face Was So Gentle,
The Room In Such Disorder,
Not How I Pictured
A United States Soldier.

Was This The Hero
Of Whom I'd Just Read?
Curled Up On A Poncho,
The Floor For A Bed?

I Realized The Families
That I Saw This Night,
Owed Their Lives To These Soldiers
Who Were Willing To Fight.

Soon Round The World,
The Children Would Play,
And Grownups Would Celebrate
A Bright Christmas Day.

They All Enjoyed Freedom
Each Month Of The Year,
Because Of The Soldiers,
Like The One Lying Here.

I Couldn't Help Wonder
How Many Lay Alone,
On A Cold Christmas Eve
In A Land Far From Home.

The Very Thought
Brought A Tear To My Eye,
I Dropped To My Knees
And Started To Cry.

The Soldier Awakened
And I Heard A Rough Voice,
"Santa Don't Cry,
This Life Is My Choice;

I Fight For Freedom,
I Don't Ask For More,
My Life Is My God,
My Country, My Corps."

The Soldier Rolled Over
And Drifted To Sleep,
I Couldn't Control It,
I Continued To Weep.

I Kept Watch For Hours,
So Silent And Still
And We Both Shivered
From The Cold Night's Chill.

I Didn't Want To Leave
On That Cold, Dark, Night,
This Guardian Of Honor
So Willing To Fight.

Then The Soldier Rolled Over,
With A Voice Soft And Pure,
Whispered, "Carry On Santa,
It's Christmas Day, All Is Secure."

One Look At My Watch,
And I Knew He Was Right.
"Merry Christmas My Friend,
And To All A Good Night."

This poem was written by a Marine (Name Unkown) stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

Perhaps we should look to FDR in the war in Iraq

In this speech shortly after the attacks on Pearl Harbor, FDR pledged to not stop until complete victory was obtained. It is this attitude that will lead us to victory in Iraq. Now I know critics are going to say that WWII was completely different. In that you're right. We had less people killed on our own soil than 911. There were far more deaths in World War II (405,399 deaths) than Iraq. That makes the war in Iraq death count at around 0.5% of that total. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to see our troops die. However, in comparison to previous wars, this war has far less deaths. Despite the high death totals in WWII, we did not waiver. We followed through with world war II until we obtained COMPLETE victory as FDR had pledged. We must do the same with Iraq.

"Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God."

Joe Lieberman shows that he has a level head in Wall Street Journal Article

When you read this, you will see a congressman who prioritizes what is best for the country ahead of what is best for the democrats. He explains how there is PROGRESS in Iraq... yeah... he said it... PROGRESS. It is not bottomless pit of death and destruction that the media and most democrat politicians are trying to turn it in to.

I am also getting many inquiries as to why a timetable is a bad thing. It's quite simple. First of all, it is not straight forward as to how long this will take. It will also be a problem if we reach that withdrawal date and we aren't ready to pull out. At that point, it would be a victory for the terrorists.

Bush gave as definite of a time table as he can give. We will stay in there until we win.

I have received many requests to post a link to this article.... so here it is:

History shows what happens when we cut and run in the war against terrorists

This article previously written by me a few months ago really shows why cutting and running in Iraq is such a bad idea.

There was something today that President George Bush said today in his speech that really made me think. He cited the battle of Mogadishu, Somalia as a rationale for staying in Iraq until the mission is completed. This battle, known by many as “Blackhawk Down,” was really a pivotal moment in recent history. This fairly unknown battle was the beginning of what is now “The War on Terror.” What if things were done differently? Would we be where we are today as a country? This will be evident after understanding Bill Clinton’s course of action, what he should have done differently, and what would be different if the right course of action was taken.

In order to fully understand, one must first understand the course of action taken by former President Bill Clinton. The date was October 3, 1993 and the plan was to send the two small, elite groups known as the Delta Force and the Army Rangers in to Mogadishu, Somalia to capture two terrorist clan members. This mission was successful. However, success would not be justly associated with this in any other contexts. It was during this mission in which the locals shot down two Blackhawk helicopters full of United States Special Forces. There were thousands of people shooting at our troops. In the end 18 troops died in action. The obvious thing to do would be to finish cleansing Somalia of these terrorists. However, the very next day, Bill Clinton gave into partisan pressure and called off the mission.

This was an enormous misjudgment on President Clinton’s part. This sent out a signal to everyone around the world saying that if they killed any of our Americans, we would falter. This is why Bill Clinton should not have backed off his mission goal, to cleanse Somalia of terrorists. Those 18 deaths were absolutely horrible; however, they were nothing compared to what the number of deaths that the falter resulted in. This clan of terrorists would soon be part of an organization known as Al Qaeda. I believe we all know what they are responsible for. Bill Clinton should have finished the mission and done whatever it took to stop this revolt because to our enemies, this was a sign of weakness. Just like any enemy who detects a weakness, they exploited it. They continue trying to exploit this weakness today; however, now it is no longer a weakness. We are strong and will not falter in the face of terrorism. That being said, resestablishing this strenth has resulted in many deaths that could have been avoided if Bill Clinton had finished the mission.

One has to ask what the world would be like without this falter, without this signal to the world that America is weak. For one, the culture of terrorism would not be spreading so rapidly throughout the world. On October 12, 2000 the terrorists bombed the USS Cole in Yemen. However, Bill Clinton perpetuated his culture of pacifism once again. If Bill Clinton would have stomped on the match before it caught the whole forest on fire, it would have been a lot easier to put out. It is likely that the current war in Iraq would have been over for a long time by now if he had not been a pacifist. It is possible that an authoritative response to these would have discouraged the attacks on September 11th, 2001.

This has lead to a lot of frustration throughout the Republican Party. The Democrats are quick to blame President Bush on everything related to terrorism. Even Bill Clinton himself came out to criticize Bush’s position on the war. The reality is, the fire will keep on getting bigger. Clinton could have stomped out the burning match; however, he chose to let the fire spread. It may not be easy to put out now, but the longer we wait, the bigger it’s going to get. President Bush is doing the right thing to change the culture of pacifism that was developed throughout the Clinton years. Although it will not be easy, we must do whatever it takes to be victorious. We must prove to these terrorists that their efforts are in vain by staying in Iraq until our mission is complete. The moment we leave Iraq is the moment the terrorists win and have an unregulated terrorism breeding ground. We will prove that America is strong, and we will not falter again.

More good new for the economy

"Orders to U.S. factories posted a solid increase in October while - worker productivity jumped by the largest amount in two years, the government reported Tuesday. It was the latest evidence that the economy is rebounding from the Gulf Coast hurricanes and a spike in energy prices, leading analysts to predict the economy will turn in a solid performance in coming months.

"The momentum of growth has been very strong," said Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at Global Insight in Lexington, Mass. "This suggests that growth in the fourth quarter of this year and early next year will remain robust.""

John Kerry Calls American Troops Terrorists
December 5, 2005

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: John Kerry beginning to undermine the war in a big effort now, in a big way. Let's go the sound bite. This is Face the Nation yesterday. Bob Schieffer says, "Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, he takes a very different view, Senator Kerry. He says basically that we should stay the course, because he says real progress is being made. He says, 'This is a war between 27 million Iraqis who want freedom and 10,000 terrorists.' He says we're in a watershed transformation. What about that?"

JOHN KERRY: I don't agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is, you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment; you've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis, and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that. And after all of these two and a half years, with all --

RUSH: (laughing) Iraqis ought to be terrorizing Iraqi women and children! He (interruption). Yes he did. Yes he did just say it. Cue it back up, Mike. Yes, he did. He said, "...and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of customs, the historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis ought to be doing that." Here, listen to it again. If you didn't believe it the first time you heard it, listen to it again.

JOHN KERRY: I don't agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is, you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment; you've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis, and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, uh-uh-uh, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that. And after all of these two and a half years, with all of the talk of 210,000 people trained, there just is no excuse for not transferring more of that authority.

SCHEIFFER: But you're not saying --
RUSH: There's so much... I'm sorry I even have to play this buffoon for you, but he's assumed the position of official Democrat Party spokesman on this. He's putting himself out there, so we have to deal with it. There's so much wrong with this. You've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis? What's been going on the last year and a half that he hasn't noticed, number one. Number two: "After all these 2-1/2 years and all the talk of 210,000 people trained, no excuse for not transferring more of that authority"? What are we in the process of doing? All these people are trying to do is get ahead of something that is already happening so they can take credit for it. But this business that US soldiers are terrorizing Iraqi women and children, you now, if you doubted John Kerry during the 2004 presidential campaign, if you doubted anybody, the Swift Boat Vets, if you doubted anybody about him, you shouldn't now. It is clear what he thinks of the US military. His view is common throughout the Democratic Party. The only Senate Democrat who sounds like FDR or Truman right now, is Joe Lieberman. You've got the likes of John Kerry and Dick Durbin now echoed by Harry Reid and Ted Kennedy as the voice of the modern Democratic Party, which despises the US military and feels no compunction whatsoever to characterize them as terrorists. Let's go back to April 22, 1971 -- and this is Kerry, testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about his tour in Vietnam.

JOHN KERRY: They told the stories of times that they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in the fashion reminiscent of Jen-giss [sic] Khan, not isolated incidents, but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with a full awareness of officers at all leveled of command.

RUSH: So he came back and he lied about atrocities that he never saw. He accused men of committing these atrocities. He never saw them. He lumped himself in at some point with having participated in them, but he never saw these things committed. That truth has come out. He has not seen US soldiers terrorize kids and children in the dead of night in Iraq, and yet he can't help it because this is who he is -- and who he is, is a carbon copy of today's modern Democratic Party. This is how they view the American military man and woman; this is how they view their own country. We are the terrorists. We brutalize. We're the barbarians. We are cowards. We are doing things like this under cover of darkness. It is shocking to have to play this stuff for you, but I feel compelled to do it because so many people still want to have their head in the sands about all this. How much longer do we have to pretend these people are patriots? How much longer do we have to do that, folks? We've got Ramsey Clark, John Kerry, Dick Durbin, Ted Kennedy -- who, of course, said that our running of Abu Ghraib prison was no different than a change of management. In fact, we're doing it just as badly and doing just as rotten things as Saddam did. They don't speak like patriots, folks, and they don't act like patriots. In this comment, John Kerry is anti-American. He's trying to get away with making you think he is pro-American and pro-military because we're in a situation that the president put us all in that's untenable and it's not these people's fault; it's all Bush's fault. But make no mistake that's not how this is heard around the world. This is cheered by our enemies. This is not patriotism. This is not patriot speech. It's not patriot actions. This is pure anti-American, anti-anti-US military and these are the mouthpieces of the Democratic Party today who are assigned the effort of saying these things: constantly slam our own country, pretending that they're slamming Bush. And it's true incidental they hate Bush. There's no question. But they have to know that they're pounding our institutions, and the people who support them know it. International Answer, Code Pink, all these other loon, left-wing peace groups are all part of the same organization. They are invested in our defeat. They are now agitating for our defeat. They are seeking our defeat -- and I, for one, find nothing patriotic about it.

RUSH: So you've got Durbin comparing interrogators and military personnel in uniform to Pol Pot's thugs, Soviet gulag operators, and Nazi soldiers and so forth -- and, of course, all hell descended on Durbin after that. I'm just wondering if this comment by Kerry will cause a similar crescendo. I mean, when he actually has gone out now and repeated what he said in April of 1971. Those were total lies in 1971. He couldn't substantiate these allegations he was making, and now he comes back and basically accuses young soldiers, American soldiers, of terrorizing Iraqi kids and children and breaking their historical and religious customs, and that there's no reason for this, and that it must stop. This is clearly agitating for defeat. It's a disguised attempt here, folks, at ripping Bush. But this is an all-out assault on their own country. These people are not courageous. It doesn't take any guts for Kerry to go to the Senate floor or to go on Face the Nation in front of a friendly audience and say what he says. They like to think of themselves as courageous, but that term it misused -- usually by them to define their opposition to the war.

What these people are doing is not gutsy. It doesn't take courage or guts to do what they're doing at all. It's the easiest thing in the world. Liberalism is the easiest, most gutless choice anybody can make. Courage is speaking for freedom while faced with tyranny, not speaking for tyranny while living in freedom -- and these people are advocating tyranny by suggesting Saddam shouldn't have been deposed, maybe we shouldn't even proceed with this trial, that Iraqis were better off. I mean, these are the people that claim, folks, to have all these interests in human rights and civil rights and freedom and love and tolerance, and they're willing to consign the Iraqi population back to this thug dictator and all of his evil and all of his horrors -- and at the same time they want to be called courageous for doing so! Well, this is the exact opposite of courage. Courage is when you are tyrannized, when you're living in tyranny, and you dare speak up for your own freedom. These people are living in freedom. They're protected by it, and they are speaking up for tyranny -- and you've gotta add Jimmy Carter to this list.

Add Carter, and Bill Clinton as well. Carter in many ways is difficult to distinguish from Ramsey Clark, because Carter is out there currently constantly embracing dictators, from Castro to that pot-bellied little fool in North Korea, Kim Jong Il or Kim Jung Il, Kim Il Jung, whatever they go by. They're always just out there traveling the world denouncing us. Clinton himself often comes close, but he pulls back. He'll go over to Dubai and rip the soldiers. He will not call them terrorists, but he'll demoralize them and attempt to make illegitimate their effort, then he'll come back and change his mind when he's speaking to an American audience. I guess he thinks this is courage, too, telling an audience what it wants to hear, even trying to triangulate the war. Then in the meantime, you've got Joe Lieberman who is the black sheep of this party because he speaks the truth and defends his country, but he's totally ignored. He's an outcast in his own party. Instead, you've got people like Cindy Sheehan and John Murtha, lauded, praised, because they undermine the war -- and in the process, undermine their country. Then you've got the media, nothing more than the Democrat National Committee house organ, the Democrat National Committee Times, the Democrat National Committee NBC, the DNC-ABC, and it's sickening. It is just sickening -- and they must pay a price.

RUSH: Listen to this again. John Kerry, Face the Nation yesterday. Again, nobody watches this show, and that's why you may have missed this.

JOHN KERRY: [T]here is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, uh-uh-uh, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that.

RUSH: Now, folks, is it me, or does this man sound like he has dementia? He just blabs away. If you saw the whole appearance, he just blabs away, says whatever enters his mind, regardless of its possible effect on our troops, regardless of whether it makes any sense. As long as he's being paid attention to, he will pursue any hapless effort again at winning the presidency. But it's totally hapless. Don't forget, this is the guy -- and the reason he does this is because he knows that he's never going to be scrutinized by the press. That pitiful performance of his outside the White House last week where he contradicted himself inside of six sentences about his policies on troop withdrawal, whether it would work or not work? It was one of the most incoherent convoluted things he said since he said, "I voted for it before I voted against it," but he's confident he can get away with this because he knows he's not going to be scrutinized. Remember, this is the guy when CBS a bunch of the press were running around asking him some questions, he gave this long, winding answer that nobody could make sense of, and CBS said, "Senator, you want to do another take on that? We don't have a sound bite in there." Now, rather than air it as rambling incoherence, in vain search of a cogent thought, the media gives him take two, which is what he got -- and in this case, he says this; there's no outrage from Bob Schieffer. There's not even a raised eyebrow from Bob Schieffer. There's a, you know, stroke the chin with the hand and give it considerable thought; "Why, senator, you may be on to something, hmmmmm." It's just absurd. But at the same time all these people think they're being courageous! Kerry, I'm sure, thinks this is a great act of courage -- just like he thought when he thought April 22nd, 1971, was a great act of courage.

Payrolls Grow by 215,000 people in November!!!!! ... Bush economic plan continues to work!

The payrolls grew by 215,000 jobs in the month of November!

Second article

While the liberal media keeps trying to downplay this... 215,000 jobs is a lot of jobs... This shows that the strength of our economy is so high that the huricanes and energy prices cannot slow it down. No matter how the liberal media spins it... they can't change the fact that 215,000 jobs exist that didn't the month before.

other key points from the article:

"The department revised up its measure of employment for hurricane-ravaged September, saying payrolls expanded by 17,000 workers."

"This shows a return to the pre-hurricane trend."

"The economy has shrugged off the impact of Katrina and is creating jobs at a solid pace again," added Joel Naroff at Naroff Economic Advisors."
