Full rights for NONCITIZEN enemy combatants…. No rights for the heroes of our military.
This has been bothering me SO MUCH! Why is it that McCain and all the liberals stand up and fight for the RIGHTS OF THE TERRORISTS!?!?!?! However, when our own citizen, our own MARINES who have rights entitled to them by the constitution of the United States of America are having their right violated... hear nothing but crickets? Where is the ACLU? Are they not supposed to defend the rights of people? The liberals live such a double standard. Full rights for NONCITIZEN enemy combatants…. No rights for the heroes of our military.

They were held in shackles for some time before even being charged with any crime. This is the same thing that people complain about with Gitmo.

At most, it would appear approximately one month. It is also unclear in the linked article whether these charges were formally brought on the 21st of June or whether the charges were made public at this time.
The prisoners in Gitmo, how long have they been held with no charges against them? I think there is a clear difference between the two that almost any rational person could make.

You're forgetting one HUGE detail. The troops are CITIZENS!!!! The terrorists are not US citizens therefore they have no rights by the constitution. Are we still at war? Yes. Therefore their detainment is justified. However, our marines who are US CITIZENS are guaranteed rights by the constitution.

I thought our constitution was used to establish how are government works, no matter if prisoners are citizens or not. If we do not treat prisoners the way we expect our citizen's to be treated, how can we tell other nations what is considered right and wrong.

I wonder if this has anything to do with how military justice is different than the justice system we are familiar with. From what I have heard, there are great differences.
