Less tropical storms Bush's fault too?

Last year... many people blamed President Bush for the "global warming induced tropical storms" even though most meteorologists preached that it was just part of a tropical cycle. Ok... so if that was Bush's fault... isn't the much less active season this year his fault too?

HELP STOP GLOBAL WARMING! BECOME A PIRATE!

piratesarecool4.jpg

I am very concerned about this study... I might need to become a pirate to save the world.

While on the topic of the environment... why does the government have to regulate environmental standards? Why should it be their job? If the people who spend money lobbying congress on these green issues would just apply that to taking action themselves, we'd be a lot better off.

Top Weather EXPERT calls global warming a "hoax"

Dr. Gray is the most respected Hurricane expert in the United States. When you hear of "this year's hurricane prediction," it was generated by him. He has also voiced his disagreement with "Global Warming." He passes it off as just a simple political maneuver:

"Let's just say a crowd of baby boomers and yuppies have hijacked this thing," Gray says. "It's about politics. Very few people have experience with some real data. I think that there is so much general lack of knowledge on this. I've been at this over 50 years down in the trenches working, thinking and teaching."

Gray acknowledges that we've had some warming the past 30 years. "I don't question that," he explains. "And humans might have caused a very slight amount of this warming. Very slight. But this warming trend is not going to keep on going. My belief is that three, four years from now, the globe will start to cool again, as it did from the middle '40s to the middle '70s."

"They've been brainwashing us for 20 years," Gray says. "Starting with the nuclear winter and now with the global warming. This scare will also run its course. In 15-20 years, we'll look back and see what a hoax this was."

Gray directs me to a 1975 Newsweek article that whipped up a different fear: a coming ice age.

Al Gore Helping to SPEED UP "Global Warming" by his standards

Even though there hasn't been global warming in the last few years (there has actually been global cooling)... Al Gore still released a movie about the horrible Global Warming EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!! That's right... an EMERGENCY!!!!!! I found out one hillarious fact...

First... here's a quote from the drudge:

"The most vulnerable part of the Earth's environment is the very thin layer of air clinging near to the surface of the planet, that we are now so carelessly filling with gaseous wastes that we are actually altering the relationship between the Earth and the Sun - by trapping more solar radiation under this growing blanket of pollution that envelops the entire world," Vice President Gore told the U.N. Global Warming conference of 159 nations this morning in Koyto, Japan.
Gore had more to say...
"The extra heat which cannot escape is beginning to change the global patterns of climate to which we are accustomed. Our fundamental challenge now is to find out whether and how we can change the behaviors that are causing the problem."

Now for the funny part...

The message is serious. So serious in fact, the DRUDGE REPORT has calculated that Vice President Al Gore is burning more than 439,500 pounds of fuel, or 65,600 gallons, at a cost of more than $131,000 on his 16,000 mile daytrip, just to deliver the warning.
Gore's plane, a Boeing 707 gas guzzler burns on average 4.1 gallons a mile. The complete Washington to Florida to Washington to Alaska to Japan and return to Washington trip calculated from commercial air mileage tables is just over 16,000 miles total. Gas gallons needed for AIR FORCE II to go 16,000 miles: 65,600. Applying the average price of $2.01 per gallon of Jet A to the 16,000 mile r/t -- the fuel cost alone passes $131,000.00. There are 6.7 pounds per gallon of jet fuel. Total pounds of fuel burned on Gore's Global Warming Express -- 439,500.

How about we start with you Mr. Hypocritical Vice President... How about you stop causing "global warming" yourself?

The tree hugger buzz of the 70's

An interesting article detailing when the ice age was the cool thing to complain about as a tree hugger.

The commenter of the day takes a crack at the global warming debate

This is a commenter from my previous post that is worthy of being posted for all to see.

There is no truth in the global warming debate. It's advocates are religious zealots of a kind who will not suffer disagreement from any quarters and immediate attack all nay-sayers as either idiots or pawns of the vast oil conspiracy. Some critics are equally as bad for similar reasons, whereas others have merely become embittered by the vicious attacks of the Global Warming True Believers. Those who back off and truly want more data before forming a conclusion are accused by the True Believers as wasting precious time. The fact that every prediction of vast man-made gloom and doom in all of history has never come about is not considered relevant, because we are so much more wiser, smarter, better, and enlightened than those idiots who dirtied the Earth before us.

I’m sick of global warming. The power of the sun is conveniently ignored. The fraudulence of the Mann Hockey Stick is reluctantly acknowledged, and then forgotten and conveniently cited in other works. Deviation from the groupthink is not permitted. Dissention is not permitted. They may well be right, it is possible, but the proof they clamor about does not exist, and the religious zealotry of the movement will make any such proof unlikely to be found and very difficult to believe should it be found.

I would really like to know whether 1. the world is warming and whether 2. mankind is having any significant effect on this. My guess is yes to #1 and nope to #2, but it's only a guess. I'm waiting to be informed by someone who isn't foaming at the mouth. I probably will never know for sure. When I was born, we were all being told the world would be facing mass starvation right now. Didn’t happen. I wonder what the fear de-jour will be when I’m old?

Scientist Predicts mini Ice Age

This scientist has said that he believes that there will be an ice age in about 6-7 years. This conflicts with the widely accepted global warming theory. This prediction is also based on the sun, not greenhouse gasses. This is proof that there are too many variables to make an accurate prediction.

Bush needs to stop planting trees

So... they released a report showing that plants are a huge source of greenhouse gases leading to global warming. That's clearly Bush's fault. He totally planted all those trees in the black neighborhoods of New Orleans to warm the air and pull the hurricane right towards it.

Increased Hurricanes is NOT GLOBAL WARMING!

There has been increased hurricane activity in the past few years. The media has been crying "GLOBAL WARMING!!!!, It's ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!" However, it has been said by numerous meteorological experts that the increased hurricane activity is not from global warming. They have said that the hurricane activity actually moves in cycles. We just so happen to be on the upswing of a new cycle. This corresponds with periods of activity in the past. The director for the National Hurricane Center has presented this theory to Congress. article on cycles

Everyone is freaking out about this year being the worst hurricane season ever, which by the end of the year, it very well could be. However, as it stands, the annual hurricane total is currently tied with the record year. However, if this were the result of global warming, why is that record year 1933 (link to article on that)? The fastest wind speed of 180 miles per hour recorded was in the Great Hurricane of 1938 link This was also recorded on land since they did not have buoys or reconnaissance planes then. As one can see by the recent hurricane statistics, hurricanes weaken as they approach land. It is likely that The Great Hurricane of 1938 had wind speeds were higher than the recorded 180 miles per hour. While the hurricanes this year were destructive and were once category 5 hurricanes, the winds were 140 miles per hour or less when the storms came ashore. They were not nearly as bad as they could have been. The point I am trying to make is that this season is active, but it not unusual. We are just simply entering an active period.
