I AM AN AMERICAN!
I am taking today to reflect on what it truly means to be an American. Last month, I made a trip to China with the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band to perform in the cultural festival that builds up to the Olympic Games. We were welcomed into China with open arms. I got the chance to perform at the Great Wall of China, their most prestigious military hall, and the top high school in the entire country. I got to play for many famous people, see many amazing things, and played many songs. One of the most enlightening things on the trip was the 3rd-world nature of their working class. Our tour guide told us that her parents make 300 dollars a month while the government makes about $100,000 to $150,000 off of their shop. She also spoke about how hard it is for women and people of low social class to get anywhere in their culture. Being born as either dooms you to a mediocre career at best. America is different. I came out of a lower-middle social class family and I have made a life for myself. I will be making double what my parents make in my first year out of school.
As I belted out the strains of our nation's national anthem in Beijing, I was overcome with pride. Words cannot describe the feelings that were pouring out of my heart. At that moment, I realized how great we have it in this country. Despite what many of the pessimists of this country try to portray, anyone in this country can be successful if they try hard enough. This country truly is as Michael Medved says, "The greatest nation on God's green earth." As I reflect on the birthday of the United States of America, I am reminded of a poem that is read during every Purdue football pregame show:

Why is it we have to speak english?
A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a Naval conference that included admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a group of half dozen or so officers that included personnel from most of the countries.
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked:
"Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?"
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied: "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German."
Suddenly the group became very quiet.
US FINALLY ends aid to Palestinian government
US FINALLY ends aid to to Palestinian government. Why were we giving them aid anyways? They are a terrorist government.
Just a thought on the media's presentation of conservative vs. liberal talk show hosts
Why is it that it is always "conservative talkshow host Rush Limbaugh" and "conservative talkshow host Sean Hanity." This could potentially turn off listeners. How come we never refer television talkshow hosts like Chris Mathews as a "liberal talkshow host" whenever refering to his name? I believe that if the media is going to put a disclaimer on conservative radio, the same disclaimer should be applied to liberal television talkshow hosts. The same should apply to liberal writers. However, it seems that this is something that only happens to conservative radio.
Political cartoon about Cheney's hunting accident

According to Dems... punching police is ok
I can't believe the congress member who punched a police officer won't appologize. This is what you do... you cooperate with cops! If you don't like what they're accusing you of... there's a court system to deal with that. As long as you're civil with the police... you will get the respect you deserve.
MORE culture of corruption in the Democrat party
According to sources on Capitol Hill, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a Capitol police officer
You get my point yet? The Democrat Party has more than it's fair share of corruption.
White house chief of staff resigns
Perhaps this can jump start the Bush agenda. There will be new fresh ideas in the white house. I would sure love to see Social Security reform legislation get through congress. However, maybe this new chief of staff will go an entirely new direction that can improve on other things within the government.
More culture of corruption in the democrat party...
Dem Staffer Pleads Guilty To Stealing Republican's Credit Report!
culture of corruption.... culture of corruption...
Isn't it fun to spin the democrats portrayal of the GOP and use it on them?
Starting to look like another overreaction by the press... bird flu may be a bust
It is stated experts that the Avian Flu (H5N1) lives too deep in the lungs for human transmission of the disease. Yeah... that one that's supposed to kill us all in a massive pandemic...
Generally pandemics are easily spread diseases.
Clinton's Whitewater scandal comes to close
Since the liberal media won't cover this story... only rehashing republican issues... I thought you would like to know that the legal battle with this scandal is finally done.
The Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear an appeal from former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, who asked the justices to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea to tax charges in the Whitewater investigation, closing the door on the 12-year, $60 million probe....
The probe netted 14 guilty verdicts or pleas, including Hubbell, who pleaded guilty to tax evasion, mail fraud and concealment by scheme; Tucker, who was found guilty of conspiracy and mail fraud and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service; McDougal, convicted by a jury of 18 felonies in Madison's collapse; and Mrs. McDougal, convicted of four felonies.
Other Clinton associates, bankers and real estate officials pleaded guilty to six felonies and eight misdemeanor charges in the case.
Mrs. McDougal was sentenced to two years, but served only 105 days before a judge released her because of a back problem. But she served 18 months on a contempt citation sought by Mr. Starr for refusing to testify before a grand jury about Mr. Clinton's role in the Whitewater affair.
With less than two hours remaining in his presidency, Mr. Clinton pardoned Mrs. McDougal. It was among 140 pardons and 36 commutations signed by the president as he prepared to leave office.
Streisand calls Bush a "dummbe"... wow at least Bush can use spell check
Streisand never ceases to amaze me... she wrote an essay about how stupid bush is... yet she has misspelled a ton of words throughout her essay. At least the truth comes out that she's the idiot and Bush is the smart one. You know that clicking that little spell check button in word is complicated.

Arts and Sciences department votes "no-confidence" in the President and Provost of Case
In an interesting turn of events, the faculty of the Arts and Sciences department have expressed their discontent with President Hundert and Provost Anderson. We received this in an email today:
The faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University has rendered a non-binding vote for no confidence in President Edward M. Hundert, M.D., and a separate vote for no confidence in Provost John L. Anderson during a special meeting today at Amasa Stone Chapel on the Case campus. The final vote tally was 131-44 for no confidence in the president and 97-68 for no confidence in the provost, according to David Singer, professor of mathematics, who chaired the meeting.
The meeting was called by the Executive Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences in response to a petition by at least 10 percent of the faculty who had asked for the vote.
It should be interesting to see if anything else comes of this...
Will other departments follow suit?
Will the Board of Trustees accept the vote of no confidence?
I would like to hear what all of your opinions are on this matter.
Hillary Clinton is a two-faced racist
Ok... so let me get this straight... Hillary says that racially profiling in airport security is bad... but there is NOTHING wrong with racially profiling a company taking over our ports?
What do polls have to do with what Bush should do?
Everyone is citing these likely biased polls saying that a majority of america is against the UAE owning our ports. Let's give these polls the benefit of the doubt and assume they are correct. So... because a decision is unpopular... Bush has to make it? No... he has to do what is best for the country. UAE is one of the most pro-american arab countries. They are our friend not our enemy. Everyone also seems to be forgetting that WE ARE NOT TURNING OVER PORT SECURITY! We are selling them the port operations... the United States will still be in charge of security!

Dems = culture of corruption (using their own terms against them)
So... It's now coming out that indian tribes gave to Reid after hiring Abramoff.
Reid received more than $50,000 from four tribes with gaming interests between 2001 and 2004 after they hired Abramoff. The Nevadan had received no money from those tribes before then.

Condoleezza Rice to attend Super Bowl
1/31/2006, 8:54 p.m. ET
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's travels usually take her to far-flung capitals, but this weekend she's planning a journey closer to home and close to her football fan's heart.
Rice says she will attend Super Bowl XL in Detroit, and she's picking the Pittsburgh Steelers to win — even though she doubted the team in its run-up to Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
"I picked Pittsburgh to beat Cincinnati; I have picked against them every game since," Rice ruefully told reporters Tuesday. "I'm not picking against them again."
That's not to say she's become a real Steelers fan. Rice is loyal to the Cleveland Browns.
Rice, who can rattle off football statistics and history with ease, has said she might one day like to be commissioner of the National Football League.
She said she attended one previous Super Bowl, in 1985, when she was teaching at Stanford and the game between the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers was in Palo Alto, Calif.
Case should pick its speakers more responsibly
This is from the observer (campus newspaper)
To the Editor:
Case's University Programming Board, which funds its programs through our mandatory student activity fees, has announced proudly that it will be bringing Harry Belafonte to campus. The famed singer has been renowned for years as one of the essential figures of the early Civil Rights movement. As the event's publicity e-mail noted, "It was he who bailed Martin Luther King out of a Birmingham jail…It was he who helped to organize the March on Washington. Harry Belafonte railed against apartheid in South Africa." These accomplishments are great and any American who did so much to further the lives of so many deserves great accolades, but the e-mail gives little indication of what Belafonte has been doing recently. Let me give you a taste.
Last August he was asked what he thought about so many blacks holding high-level positions in the Bush administration. He called these public servants "black tyrants." He then made this comparison: "Hitler had a lot of Jews high up in the hierarchy of the Third Reich." Excuse me? Belafonte considers the Bush Administration analogous to the Third Reich, and his black colleagues acquiescent to tyranny. Belafonte continued this line of thinking last weekend by comparing the Department of Homeland Security to the Nazi Gestapo.
A few weeks ago he was in Venezuela meeting with Fidel Castro's good buddy Hugo Chavez. He proudly proclaimed to those present and millions more on television that President Bush is "the greatest terrorist in the world."
I understand that political diversity is essential to a well-functioning academic institution. I have no problem with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, Jerry Springer, and Dennis Kucinich visiting campus, even though I agree with them on almost nothing. But do we need to pay thousands of students' valuable dollars to listen to Harry Belafonte compare the leader of the free world to Hitler? I don't care what anyone thinks about the president's policies and beliefs: comparing him to Hitler and Osama is simply disgusting. I am not holding my breath for our student programmers to invite William Buckley Jr., Thomas Sowell, or Rich Lowry to campus, but do we really need to spend our money this way? Were all of the thoughtful speakers booked this spring? I hope that all Case students will show UPB how we feel about this use of student activity money and avoid this speech.

US Sailor gives a heart warming gift to his foster mother
U.S. Sailor Donates Kidney to Foster Mother
Saturday, December 24, 2005
RAHWAY, N.J. — An ailing woman who has sheltered dozens of foster children over the years received an early Christmas gift from one of them: a donated kidney.
"I'm forever indebted to this young man for this gift," said Phyllis Klingebiel, 68, of the foster son who lived with her and her husband for 11 years. "He's a walking angel on this Earth."
Navy petty officer 2nd class Mark Greshan, 23, said the donation was a natural choice for a woman who cared for him from the time he showed up at the house as a 7-year-old.
"After six months, I knew this was my home," he told The Star-Ledger of Newark in an interview before the operation. "It wasn't 'foster child,' it was 'son."'
Klingebiel needed a transplant after a genetic kidney condition worsened in the last year. Matches from biological family members were not available.
"He called me up and said, 'I have a Christmas gift for you,"' Phyllis Klingebiel said. "'The bad news is that it's going to be early. The good news is that you're going to get my kidney."'
Herbert Klingebiel thinks of Greshan's donation as a reward for his wife's work with children. Over the past 30 years, the Klingebiels have tended to 67 foster children.
"God gives everybody a gift, and I guess her gift is helping children," he said. "I guess this just came around and God gave it back hundredfold, back to my wife."
Their operations were Tuesday, and Greshan, who received some time off from the Navy, is recuperating at home.
He said Saturday he was sore from the operation but was OK. He was waiting to hear whether his foster mother would be able to leave the hospital and join him at their home.
"Everybody's doing fine," he told The Associated Press.
Merry Christmas! A special merry christmas to those who keep us safe and free!
I would like to take this chance to be politically incorrect and wish all of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I would like to extend a special merry christmas to those who serve our country. Despite what some anti-american liberals may be saying, I fully support you. I am grateful for your sacrifices that you have made keeping me safe and free. For those of you who are in Iraq this Christmas eve night, my prayers are with you.
God Bless America!
and
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Cheney listens to Johnny Cash
In case you missed Cheney's domination of Edwards... knowing he listens to Johnny Cash is more evidence that he's a badass. Well... at least he has excellent taste in music.
New Blogger, Welcome Matt!
I would like to welcome a new blogger to my team, Matt. Matt is a different kind of conservative. He is a proud libertarian constitutionalist. By adding him to the team there will be some different points of view for you to read. While I strongly agree with most of his economic beliefs, I do disagree with some of his social issue stances. However, despite my disagreements, I support his point of view and feel that by adding him to the staff, this blog will bring about more political awareness on issues facing college students.
The Katrina "Bush didn't help because he hates black people" proven to be a flat out lie
"Statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals suggest that fewer than half of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were black, and that whites died at the highest rate of all races in New Orleans."
So it's obvious that Bush hates white people. He used his magical powers to draw that hurricane to New Orleans to get'em.
