Synopsis of The Darjeeling Limited is as follows:
Three American brothers who have not spoken to each other in a year set off on a train voyage across India with a plan to find themselves and bond with each other -- to become brothers again like they used to be. Their "spiritual quest", however, veers rapidly off- course (due to events involving over-the-counter pain killers, Indian cough syrup, and pepper spray), and they eventually find themselves stranded alone in the middle of the desert with eleven suitcases, a printer, and a laminating machine. At this moment, a new, unplanned journey suddenly begins. Starring Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Anjelica Huston. Rated R for language.

Into The Wild

The 1996 Jon Krakauer non-fiction work based on the true story of Christopher McCandless is finally coming to the big screen after 10 years in the making. Adapted and directed by Sean Penn, the film has received great reviews after initial screenings in Toronto and should easily be one of the best movies this fall. In order to get on the guest list for the free preview screening, click here and send an email, with your name + 0 or 1 guests. The showing will be at Richmond Town Square on Tuesday 9/25 at 7:30. The guest list does not guarantee seating, just admission if there is still seating available, so arrive early!

"Into the Wild" tells the true story of Chris McCandless (Emile Hirsch), a graduate of Emory University who drops law school plans, gives his savings to charity, rids himself of his possessions, and spends 2 years wandering the continent, rebelling against society's draws of fame and fortune to experience life and search for himself on his way to Alaska. He arrived in Alaska in April 1992, and spent 113 days in the Alaskan wilderness, living in a bus, before succumbing to the elements. His story and journey were recreated by Jon Krakauer in 1996 in the book of the same name. Into The Wild stars Emile Hirsch, Marcia Gay Harden, William Hurt, Jena Malone, Catherine Keener, Brian Dierker, Vince Vaughn, Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Stewart, and Hal Holbrook.

Dining Gems Around Town

Detroit Avenue is a cheese lover’s paradise

Melt Bar and Grilled
This popular Lakewood joint celebrates more varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches than you can imagine. Celebrating its one year anniversary this weekend, the restaurant is sponsoring many specials throughout from Thursday 9/20 to Sunday 9/23. And if 20 different grilled cheeses, and 10 different burgers/steak sandwiches weren’t enough, you can also substitute other cheeses, other breads, and have other add-ins. The restaurant also serves over 100 beers, a specialized wine list, and a top shelf liquor selection. There is a Sunday brunch featuring omelettes, waffles, and French toast as well. Melt is located at 14718 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, near the corner of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue. Click here for their website. www.meltbarandgrilled.com

Cheddars
As Melt is to grilled cheese, this lesser known eatery at the border between Lakewood and Ohio City is to mac and cheese. This restaurant however, is much smaller, much simpler than Melt. With 20 varieties of mac and cheese, the varieties double the number of tables in the restaurant, and the menu consists of mac and cheese entrees, many under $10, as well as burgers. The portions are generous, and come with a salad as well. With information on it being difficult to find, I cannot add too much more than what I know from a review or two online, as I have yet to visit myself yet. However, you can get more info by calling at 216-651-1610. Cheddars is located at 5810 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, near the corner of W. 58th and Detroit.

Feast of Love synopsis:
In a coffee shop in a tight-knit Oregon Community, local professor Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman) witnesses love and attraction whipping up mischief amonth the town's residents. From the unlucky in love, die-hard romantic coffee shop owner Bradley (Greg Kinnear) who has a serial habit of looking for love in all the wrong places, including with his current wife Kathryn (Selma Blair); to the edgy real estate agent Diana (Radha Mitchell) who is caught up in an affair with a married man (Billy Burke) with whom she shares an ineffable connection; to the beautiful young newcomer Chloe (Alexa Davalos) who defies fate in romancing the troubled Oscar (Toby Hemingway); to Harry himself, whose adoring wife (Jane Alexander) is looking to break through his wall of grief after the wrenching loss of a beloved.

They all intertwine into one remarkable story in which no one can escape being bent, broken, befuddled, delighted, and ultimately redeemed by love's inescapable spell.

I just wanted to let you know about a couple of movie screenings that you can pick up passes for today, but unfortunately the blog host site was down this morning. For those of you that get this soon, you can still pick up passes to The Brothers Solomon (see details below). Check back late tonight or early tomorrow morning for the full weekly entry highlighting the Air Show and Taste of Cleveland, including how you can pick up passes tomorrow evening to the new Jodie Foster movie "The Brave One" for a showing in September. The entry, which I attempted to post this morning is below:

The rest of the entry will be coming late tonight, but here are a couple of free movie screenings that you can take advantage of by picking up passes today:

War
Jet Li and Jason Statham star in this action flick that is a story of revenge between an FBI agent, a hit man, and a pair of Asian gangs. Pick up passes between 11:30 and 1:30 at the MIX 106.5 Listener Lunch at Star Plaza (E. 14th and Euclid) today at the Free Times booth while supplies last. One pass admits 2. The pass will be good at all participating Regal and Cleveland Cinemas from Monday-Thursday, but for evenings only starting 9/4.

The Brothers Solomon
Will Arnett and Will Forte star in this comedy of two good-hearted but romantically challenged brothers. When they find out their dying father’s last wish is a grandchild, the race is on to find someone to have a baby with. Pick up passes tonight after 7 PM at Prosperity Social Club located at 1109 Starkweather Dr. in Tremont. No purchase necessary. The showing is Wednesday September 5, at 7:30 at Cinemark Valley View. Arrive early to the theater to get seating!

Thanks to Heidi for the submission of this weekend's Urban City Xpressionz festival in Ohio City. The Dealfinder personally attended it last year, and can attest that it is worth seeing.

I apologize for the delay of the update this week. I have been extremely busy this week, and next week should be back on time (Wednesday) again. I also have a new email address (createcleveland@case.edu) where people can email suggestions or comments about the blog.

I hope many of you are getting the word out about this blog… it's now up to 668 visitors through 3 weeks, with over 3000 hits in just over 3 weeks. I hope many of you that were able to take in one of the various festivals going on in the area last weekend before the weather made it difficult. There's plenty more in store this week, including a free screening of "Balls of Fury" (read below).

If you’re the kind of person who belts out show tunes in the shower, you’re just the kind of person who might qualify to be a Blossom Broadway Baby at the September 1st concert, “Rodgers and Hammerstein on Stage and Screen.” WCLV’s Bill Rudman, whose program Footlight Parade is heard Saturdays at 6:00 PM, will introduce the concert from the stage. For a chance to win a pair of tickets, send an email to bbb@wclv.com.
