Proposal

So, I'm working more on my proposal. I got back my first draft, and Prof. Hauck is right, there's a lot more research I need to do on the subject. I pretty much need to give myself a very basic understanding of stresses and strain in order to write the proposal in a full, fleshed-out kind of way. It shouldn't be that bad, and I've found (and been shown) a few sources already, but it's just kind of intimidating.

I also need to work on writing in a scientific sort of mode. The last writing I did of any length was a science fiction story for a SAGES class sophomore spring. Since then, I haven't even had lab reports, just homework assignments and maybe a short essay or two for psych last semester. I made a bunch of little stylistic flubs in the first draft of my proposal, things which aren't appropriate for a serious piece of writing like this. Things like making references to "impossibly deep chasms" on Mars. It's a definite shift for me, but I'd like to figure out a way to make the proposal read well without those sorts of mistakes. I plan to try harder on that for the final thing.
