Hammer Time

So, the announcement went out that Blog.Case.edu was available for beta work and I jumped in with both feet and a big stick. I've used Moveable Type before so I was already familiar with the admin interface, and the entire data model behind it. Here's what I found:

If you haven't gone through up front and explored the Weblog Config selection on the "Manage" menu for your blog, do so now. Getting all of the settings completed up front gives you a good chance of not seeing any error messages. It turns out the occasional error message raises its ugly head when you do something you haven't done before. Once the settings are all made and you've tried everything all of the variables have been initialized and you'll see a lot less of this error stuff.

Hitting the LOGOUT link in the header takes you to /mt/mt.cgi, not to /mt/mt-ldap.cgi. That's the default and correct behavior for most installations of Moveable Type. However, this installation is set up (mostly) to authenticate off of the Case LDAP server so the logout link should take you to the LDAP version of the login screen. I've mentioned this via email to blog-admin@case.edu so that may change very soon.

Okay, I bit the bullet and moved mt.cgi out of the way and created a symlink to mt-ldap.cgi in it's place. This should be fixed.
