Campaign for a New Ohio Lakewood Event

For those of you unfamiliar with the Campaign for a New Ohio, they're basically a conglomeration of all the amazing NE Ohio volunteers who are working at the grassroots level to help out on various state-wide races. All of this work is in hopes of turning around the governments'negative path.

Anyways, the CNO is hosting a rally with some important Ohio Democrats in Lakewood. While this is a bit of a late notice, if you're interested in attending here's all the information you need. Be sure to take lots of pictures, meet new friends, and find more way to get involved!

Chris Redfern is a member of the Ohio House, and was recently elected chair of the Ohio Democratic Party. During his brief tenure, he has focused on building an 88-county party that competes statewide, and has renewed the party's commitment to grassroots activism. Prior to his election to the Ohio House, he served as commissioner of Ottawa county, the youngest to serve in the state of Ohio. Chris will provide an update on his vision for the party, an update on progress in the current election cycle, and in particular will encourage members of the Campaign for a New Ohio to redouble their efforts in the effort to turn around Ohio.

Julian Rogers is leading the coordinated campaign for Cuyahoga County, is a founder and director of Blue 88, a political action committee focused on revitalizing the Ohio Democratic party, and is a veteran activist who has served on numerous campaigns. The coordinated campaign is is promoting the statewide democratic candidates, namely Ted Strickland/Lee Fisher (Governor), Sherrod Brown (U.S. Senate), Marc Dann (Attorney General), Jennifer Bruner (Secretary of State), Barbara Sykes (Auditor), Richard Cordray (Auditor), Ben Espy and William O'Neill (Supreme Court).


Jane Buder Shapiro, PhD is head of Ohioans for Democratic Values, a board member of Campaign for a New Ohio, a practicing psychologist, and an adjunct professior at CWRU. In her political life, she studies and practices the impact of linguistics and communication in voter persuasion. She is the creator of the Voter Action Initiative, an program to empower activists in precinct-level, door-to-door activism. Volunteers will receive resource material, walk lists, and other tools to enhance the impact of this vital political activity. Resource kits will be available at the meeting..

Are you going to this event or do you have to work? I am rather curious as to what these resourse kits have in them. If you end up going, tell Dr. Buder Shapiro I said hi.

Alas, I'm probably not going -- it's my only free night this week, but I know I'll be attending a few things coming up
