Case Democrat Quoted in Regards to Sherrod Brown Victory
Today is the start of a new day to say the least. I wanted to document here a news story that quoted Justin Williams, one of our dedicated freshmen, who was interviewed during last night's Brown Victory Party!
Here's the excerpt:
Gathering with several hundred supporters at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, where the Brown victory party was held, Justin Williams of Massillon praised Brown for standing up against Bush.
“He’s going to speak his mind and he’s going to say, ‘Ohio is not a state to be messed with,’” said Williams, a freshman at Case Western Reserve University who worked on the campaign.

Waning DeWine editorial by Brent Larkin
Here's a pretty good editorial from the Plain Dealer, regarding Mike DeWine's campaign against Sherrod Brown.
The highlight, for me, of this editorial is the following:
Memo to Mike: Sure it's frustrating to run against a candidate who will say virtually anything that might benefit him politically. But members of your party have been doing the same thing for years. Plus, it's pathetic for a sitting U.S. senator to allege that in the 1980s, an employee of Sherrod Brown may have eaten a banana laced with marijuana. If you're going down, go down with some class. Don't go down the Ken Blackwell way.

Brown v DeWine: The First Debate
Earlier this month, Sherrod Brown and Mike DeWine faced off in their first debate at Lakewood Community College. There wasn't much coverage on it, and I'm sure many of you were not even aware that it had happened. There will be more debates to come in many different races, so be prepared!
To hear excerpts from the Debate check out the Plain Dealer's Clips.

Security votes lose context in Senate race
Washington- After the Cold War ended, the intelligence community in Washington had to refocus. Making it harder were the embarrassments of the 1990s - erroneous targets hit by deadly missiles, billions of dollars unaccounted for, failure to warn of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
A minority in Congress, including Democratic Rep. Sherrod Brown, wondered if the CIA was accountable to anyone. So they voted to cut the intelligence budget.
"The whole point was that we knew there was a slush fund at the CIA, that they had a lot of money set aside," Brown recalled. "We knew they had a lot of problems at that agency, where they weren't doing their jobs, and we were sending them a message."
That message, stressed repeatedly in unsuccessful annual votes through the 1990s, now has been flipped on its head. Over the last week, Sen. Mike DeWine has used Brown's votes to bolster his contention that his re-election opponent was "weakening national security." As proof, DeWine cites Brown's unsuccessful desire to slice intelligence budgets before 9/11.
Be sure to continue reading at the Plain Dealer.
The article continues the dialogue in the whole Senate Race - Terrorism debate.

DeWine blunder adds fuel to controversial Sept. 11 ad
For those of you unaware, Dewine's recent 9/11 television ad, which shows the twin towers burning actually uses a recreated clip, not one of the actual towers on 9/11. To find out more read the article at USNews.com
