Ok, so I got my international relations midterm back today. There were 10 multiple choice, 4 definitions, and an essay. I got A's on the multiple choice and the essay but apparently got a 9/20 on the definitions leaving me with a B. How lame is that? a meeting will soon happen...no, really.

CEC, the Case Engineering Council, is the most fun ever. There are 3 members and we somehow control funding for every engineering group on campus. I'm pumped.

Well, per my usual thursday night, I did not sleep last night. I studied for math, did physics, logic, and other homework. I think I did well enough on my math to pull me out of failing range but we shall see.

so I had big plans to head out to jim's at like 5 this afternoon, but I fell asleep and woke up at 9:30 so that was upsetting.

apparently I'm going to see switchfoot tomorrow with the Honorable Judge and sons. thats nifty.

I started reading "Lectures on Computing" by Richard Feynman and all of a sudden, my logic class makes sense. it's amazing how big of a difference having material explained to you in english really does help in the learning process.

today was the lxa pumpkin smash. we had a pretty good turnout for having not advertised at all (aside from away msgs.) my car held 50some pumpkins last night and now it's all muddy...but it was well worth it.

IHOP is an excellent venue for a breakfast leading into another day without sleep. however, when they don't have regular coffee, it makes me sad.

smoking is bad for you and me.

bla.

ok, so I had a discussion with my political science professor about this...why do we consider ourselves to be "irish-american" or "italian-american"? I mean, we're all american citizens and more likely than not, we haven't been the countries we affiliate ourselves with. this is a very uniquely american trait. if someone moves from germany to mexico and starts a new life there, they refer to themselves as a mexican, not a german-mexican. sure, you can say "well my great-grandparents came from poland," but that doesn't mean you did. a bunch of generations before your great-grandparents, I'm sure someone moved from somewhere else like egypt. does that make you an egyptian-polish-american? how far are we going to take this? it just seems silly to me to have such a strong affiliation to a particular group that you aren't really a part of. sure, my ancestors were croatian, but I've never been a citizen there. it's interesting to get involved in the traditions of the family that have origins there but in no way does that make me croatian.

ok, sleep time

ok, so school isn't going so well...

I thought I rocked my statics test on friday but as it turns out...I'm retarded. The teacher said in class today that he doesn't curve anything. Great. Needless to say, the rest of this semester is not going to be my friend. If I really really really do well in Logic, I can pull off an A, otherwise it'll be a B. If I do really well in POSC, I'll have an A but since we don't have any points/assignments yet, it's hard to say. Statics will be a C if I'm lucky and the same goes for Math and Physics. Wow, this whole school thing is no good.

In other news, fall break was nice. I was actually able to sleep some. I'm still pretty single despite the rumors (rumors?) so I guess that's ok.

I went into work on Tuesday and got a bunch of stuff done which was good.

The end.

oh, and I have lots of work to do.

Well, tonight will be the night...time to separate the engineers from the management people.

things to accomplish for tomorrow:

by 9:30 -> lots of calc III hw
by 11:30 -> take 2 practice tests for statics and hopefully be ready for the actual test
by 2:00 -> lots of physics hw
by 3ish -> finish and turn in logic hw

needless to say, I'll be up all night. oh boy.

on a lighter note, I've installed Ubuntu linux on my computer and am pretty happy with it. after a few video driver problems, it's been smooth sailing to open source goodness.

I went to the Newman Mass tonight as I should being a "leader". There were only about 10-12 students there but Fr. Don Dunson from the sem said Mass. I talked to him for a few minutes prior to and after mass. Excellent guy.

I'm off school starting tomorrow at 3 until wednesday morning at 9:30. Any ideas of what to do? my immediate plans include sleeping and perhaps visiting Kent. other ideas are most welcome.

Until Next Time I leave you with another haiku:

once again, no sleep

ok, so it's about 5am wednesday morning. I'm still doing my physics lab. I finished my statics hw a while ago and got my math mostly finished aside from the stupid proofs.

I wrote a haiku:

phys lab I hate you
my major does not need you
t.a.'s are not friends

thats about what I'm feeling right now.

so here's the plan...

sleep until 8am or so, turn in math hw, go to logic recitation, turn in statics, sneak into the phys labs and get my data off of the computers there, finish my report in nord, sleep, go to statics review at 5. if you see me during this period of time, feel free to ask me "Eric, why are you not (insert activity here) right now?" and I may have a witty response.

Until next time, become a liberal arts major.

hello,

so this is the week when everyone at case is burning the midnight oil and studying for all those crazy midterms. I lucked out and only have 2 this week however my lab TA has very recently denied my request for an extension on my lab report...less than 48 hours before it's due. curse you, physics department.

in any event, I've been quite the shady character as of late and am working at improving.

priorities:
1) Grades -> I need better ones, soon
2) People -> I need to be a better/nicer/not so shady guy to my friends
3) Self -> Workout more, smoke less, write more, guitar more, pray more, etc.

so thats the plan...

if you have a strong dislike for me at the moment, you probably have a really good reason. if you are lacking in the strong dislike for me department, I could probably give you a million reasons why I'm a silly guy.

in any event, forgive me.

yours truly,
