Another Year

Last week I turned twenty. That's right, our hero (myself) has been roaming the surface of our sphereoid planet for a full two decades. Nothing too terribly exciting really occured. There were no baloons, no trumpets blaring, and certainly no shots consumed as I a a mere year short. (361 days short exactly)

a birthday haiku:

i am now twenty,
it's awesome getting older,
still cannot buy booze.

It occured to me that I am now no longer a teenager, but as it was pointed out to me by my dear friend Raj (I think it was raj), I am now a twenty-somthing! The era of appartment-living and paying my own bills has begun.

On an unrelated note, the week previous to last I saw not one but two fantasticly funkadelic concerts. The first concert was Tower of Power, a 30-somthing year old sould band. They opened with a song called "The Oakland Stroke" and shouted at the audience about how no one in cleveland knows how to "do it like they do in Oakland" I couldn't have agreed with them more. I wanted to shout out to them that I was a cali-raised-east-bay-boy, but I held it in. The band actually danced too! I had never seen a big band like that break it down, even the 60-70 year old "Funky Docter" got down.

Galactic followed up that act on friday night. I ended up going with John Knific and Marc completely cooincidentally, they had an extra ticket and I was bored. It ended up being an absoloutely phenomenal show. The band rocked, and we met all kinds of cool people. I was resting my hands on the stage; that is, if I had been any closer to the stage I would have been performing with the band. Very cool.
