Anime Slap-Fest Game!

December 17, 2007

Bored? Slap-happy? Bored and slap-happy?! Check out this game:howto1.jpg

It's a straight-up slap-fest between you (some archetypal anime female), and some Japanamation female stereotype. The gameplay takes a second to get used to, but after the first few slaps, you get the hang of it. It feels great on the tablet with a stylus too!

Snakes On a Blog

August 15, 2006

I dunno about all of you guys out there, but I can't wait to see Snakes on a Plane. The other day I recieved an amazing personalized phone call from my good friend, Samuel L. Jackson, informing me that Snakes on a Plane is going to be the best movie ever.

Like I didn't know that already.

Power Glove Tshirt

June 28, 2006

Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap; I want this.

pa_glove.jpg

For those of you out there uncultured enough not to recognize the iconographic game controller depicted amid the four-lightning-bolted (as so pointed out by think geek)tshirt above- it is the Power Glove. The power glove is essentially the predecessor to the newfangled Wii wireless motion controller. It allowed the user to interact with their nintendo using the motion of their hand! Did I mention this thing came out in 1989?

Hand down. One of the coolest toys ever made.

IG88 Out For The COunt

June 01, 2006

Sadly, my digital companion and desktop machine IG88 is currently fragged beyond belief. What began a few days before finals as a dead power supply has blossomed into a full on "what the hell is wrong with this thing!".

I replaced the power supply, but not before transfering it back to California in the belly of a Super 80 Airliner where it suffered major hemoraging and internal trauma. The rear fan was jarred loose from its rubber bushings and janggled (techincal term) around the innards of my poor unfortunate box.

Essentially, after replacing the fan, everything was fine for about three weeks untill yesterday when I experienced major video corruption (we've gone plaid!) followed by complete video blackout. The worst part is that I think my PSU is fused to my video card (ATI 9800 All In Wonder). I say that because I have been unable to pry the PSU connector from the board.

This one may be out of my league. I'm bringing it in, after all, I'm just a software guy.

IG88 Revamp

February 22, 2006

Even the falcon needs repair sometimes, and even my machine isn't quite that sweet. I had a fan break, and I realized i have some dusting to do, so I decided to do a full tune up of IG88 including a system wipe.

I'm in the process of reorganizing on specific drives the files from my 5 presently installed operating systems. Now all I have to decide which one I want to reinstall.

Youth in Revolt Movie

January 25, 2006

My all time favorite nerd story is being made into a movie slated to come out sometime in 2006! The novel, Youth In Revolt by CD Payne, is the tragically twisted and hilarious tale of adolescent Bay Area dweller Nick Twisp as told through his diaries. 0385481969.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
I have just stumbled upon this page on IMDB which shows a movie in production. No movie poster yet.

Battlefront II ROCKS

November 21, 2005

Last week I mentioned my anticipation about the new star wars game Battlefront II; I was pretty excited. The game has exceeded my every expectation. It is really quite amazing.

The space flight aspects of the game are fully integrated with the first person shooter play. Here's how it works:
1) Spawn a Pilot
2) Run to Your Hangar
3) Jump in a Fighter
4) Initiate Enemy Destruction Smoke Bitches

After you have satisfactorily laid the smack down on fighters, you can act out a classic Star Wars battle tactic, land in the enemies hangar, jump out of your fighter, and battle face to face with your enemy on board their own friggate. Best of all, you can even sabotage the enemies critical systems (shields, turrets, life support etc) from within. IT"S AWESOME! If you're really good at surviving, you can even steal an enemy fighter as you escape the collapsing enemy vehicle.

As far as this game goes, I highly reccomend it if you have the means.

Star Wars Battlefront II

November 02, 2005

I anxiously await the moment later today when I tear through the packaging of one of the few computer games that rocks my socks so thouroughly that I am willing to buy it. Star Wars Battlefront II came out yesterday. It appears to be absoloutelyfreakingamazing. Every type of star wars battling combined into one (subscription free) game. Space battle, jedi battle, and character battles all rolled up into one. Goodbye real world, hello galaxy far far away.

Rocket scientists do it with higher thrust.

October 20, 2005

Yesterday I recieved an e-mail from my Physics Lab TA Anthony Baldridge informing me that out of three ways out of a lab, a death in the family backed up by newspaper obituaty was by far the nicest.

Needless to say, it was a bit of a downer.

I decieded it might be nice to send him a ray of light in the form of a website full of science jokes.

A day without fusion is like a day without sunshine.

Panda Bot 6000

September 30, 2005

Man I Love Japan!

Also cute is a giant robot panda character, of which many toys and T-shirts have been made. This is, as you might expect, a giant robot panda, which I guess might do battle with other robots or something. The beauty part is that when you lift the top of the robot panda's head, it reveals a control room, from which the robot panda is operated, and sitting in a chair in the control room, pushing buttons and pulling levers, is a real, non-robot pandapresumably one gifted with superb mechanical skills and a deep understanding of robotics. I take strange glee in imagining this clever panda constructing himself a giant robot panda with which to dominate other robots. Wackiness level: red. Severe!

x86 Tiger Leak Challenge

September 12, 2005

I think I have found a legit leak of OSX for x86 processors. For non nerds out there, this is a Mac Operating System, but it works on pc's. This is huge.

What I want to know, is can anyone get this to work! I have a new SATA drive on its way so I can free up enough room to test this out:

Steve Has New Domain

August 13, 2005

My older brother Steven has just relocated his blog to the ultracool domain name of www.StevenNeuman.com. I am now considering snatching up www.superluminousvelocity.com it isn't even that expensive. Problem is, no one can remember it anyway, I know this because all they would have to do is google for "super luminous velocity" and they would be brought here by the first hit.

Kind of makes me wonder if the usefullness of domains is being eroded by google. Why bother with the adress if you can just search for it, and be presented with a plethora of extra information and related links?

Negative and Positive Info

August 09, 2005

"In a development that would probably even puzzle Claude Shannon, information can be negative -- at least when the information is quantum. The discovery, by Horodecki, Oppenheim, and Winter, appears in the current edition of the leading journal Nature. If I tell you negative information, you'll know less. Apparently, researchers hope to use this to gain deeper insights into phenomena such as quantum teleportation and computation, as well as the very structure of the quantum world. More details can be found here and here A popular account of the article can be found on Oppenheim's homepage, and a free version of the article can be found in the arxiv for those of us without subscriptions to Nature." -Slashdot

That must be why i feel so much dumber after sitting through 3 ours of "negative information" chick flick, and so much smarter after a few hours of "positive information" Star Wars.

Blogs Will Not Fade Away

July 22, 2005

From The Future of RSS is Not in Blogs

Like the Internet when it first started, blogs were emboldened by the "cool factor". As the novelty of being new and cool wears off, Internet webmasters and bloggers alike are realizing that maintaining a website or blog is time-consuming. "Coolness" often wears off if a channel is not monetized. With the ease of blogging and the array of blogs available, only a handful will be able to sustain fresh, constant, unique content and generate any sort of reasonable or significant revenue. As a result, blogs as we know them today will fade into the background, with many blogs being abandoned.

While the "cool factor" may be fading away for some people, for many millions it still remains. There is no way, save net safety reasons that may arise in the future, that 16 year old girls and emo kids will stop posting journals online for others to view and interact with their tender pubescent EMOtions.

There is no way that the massively increasing ammount of nerds geeks and dorks will return to the dark days where they felt alone as persecuted weaklings (as some do) in a land of "cool kids" grown up.

In this day and age he who rules the net rules the world, and blogs are a great tool with which to rule. Blogging is proving to be better for groups seaking to communicate then usegroups because they don't require you to join a group, there's no hassle to post anywhere. Bloggers are even binding together to help fight crimes by digging up info on suspects (like the muredere in oregon) and that is quite amazing for a bunch of people who have never met.

I think it is obvious that data feeds have far greater power in them then blogs, but that doesn't mean that blogs won't retain any of that power. I certainly see a bright future for my blog, as a means of communicating and broadening my web presence, tying it all together into one usefull and easy to maintain information point.

Of course many blogs will be abandoned, but I predict not as many as will be created in the near future as the fire continues catch

I AM NUMBER 1!

July 12, 2005

A great moment in my life has come at last. Since my entry into the case wiki system, i have become the number 1 "eric neuman" on google. I have 2 words for all you other eric neuman's out there. Booh Yah.

to wiki or to blog, that is the question

July 10, 2005

With the advent of the case wiki system, i find myself in a bit of a quandry. When i wish to link to someone else in the case-sphere (maybe casephere?) do i link to their blog or their identity page in the wiki?

For example, Jeremy smith Jeremy_Smith or Jeremy Smith

I think that it is probably proper to link to the blog of a person simply because that is more likely to foster more commentation and activity in the blogsphere, but the wiki would probably provide more information on who the person in question actually is.

Another possibility is somthing more along the lines of Jeremy Smith (Blog WIKI) which i think i will test out for ight now.

spectacular!

Fellow dke David Sabens blog has alerted me to a feature that i was unaware of in the bloag@case system. User Blog Stats! Heres mine Apparently my site is fairly popular in germany. Interesting.

STAR WARS ROCKS

May 19, 2005

HO LY Crap! I saw Revenge of the Sith last night at 12:01 in walnut creek california (my home town). It was AWESOME! So much well coreographed action and finality to the plot. Ive been waiting all my life to see how it all goes down, and now, I know. What else is left to learn from life? I saw hitchhikers guide, and the last Star Wars in one month, I'm sure dorks everywhere agree, dream come true. I was dressed as Han Solo (empire Strikes Back version [the difference is in the color of the corellian blood stripes]) all day before and during the premire. Brian Moyel (sorry i don't know how to spell it) and Tiddy were dressed up as Jedi and we got some publicity photos taken of us, some of them are up in my flickr photo stream.
