Visualising a cell

Just a short post to draw attention to something I was too impressed with to leave it on the linkblog only:

A group at Harvard has put together an amazing animation of the inner life of the cell. There are also narrated versions here (all the Inner Life links; the 'speed' refers to the connection speed they're targeted for), and a mostly-complete text description of what's going on here.

Picked up from Livejournal user plantae, via tylik.

I've read this animation was commissioned to help teach biology at Harvard.
If that is the case there might be more animations showcasing specific parts of the cell at greater length and detail. No luck yet.
(My interest is using them to help teach high school students...)

Unfortunately the links I posted are the only ones I have, but I know that Harvard has a "biovisions" programme which is all about visualising biological processes. It might be worth emailing them an enquiry - I wouldn't be surprised if they have some resources they're willing to share with teachers but don't want to release to the general public.
