Junior Women's Club of Mentor: Adult Learner Scholarship
Qualifications
The Junior Women’s Club of Mentor will award one or more scholarships of at least $500. The total amount of awards given will not exceed $1,000 for the academic year 2011-12 to a female resident of Lake County who meets the following additional criteria:
1. Be a U. S. citizen
2. Must be a female, 25 years of age or over as of June 1, 2011.
3. A resident of Lake County
4. Enrolled in a trade/technical, an associate, first bachelors, or any post-baccalaureate degree program at an accredited post secondary institution. Those who have a baccalaureate degree and are enrolled in a second bachelor’s degree program are not eligible.
5. Planning to enroll at least half-time (6 or more credit hours) per term for the academic year 2011-2012.
6. If already in college, you must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average
7. Must be able to demonstrate financial need
8. Must show clear educational goals and the desire to achieve those goals
9. Previous recipients of this award may not re-apply
The selection will be based on:
1. Financial need demonstrated by the Student Aid Report and additional statements
2. The desire to complete training/degree program
3. Special consideration will be given to those applicants who demonstrate community service within the past five years
Deadline
June 1st.
Submit
1. Junior Women’s Club of Mentor Adult Learner Scholarship application completed and signed.
2. One letter of recommendation from a community member (you may ask your employer, teacher,clergy, etc.) who is not a family member and can write about your educational and career goals and your ability to achieve those goals.
3. Copy of ALL PAGES of the Student Aid Report (from filing the FAFSA), including the page listing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). If you filed your FAFSA electronically you must retrieve it from the website. If you have difficulty retrieving it please call LEAF for assistance.
4. Copy of the Official Financial Aid Award Notification from the college/school you plan to attend.
5. Copy of the most current college transcript, if you are attending college at the present time.

Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) is administering this scholarship. Please contact Sue Goley at (440) 358-8045 for applications or questions. LEAF will be selecting the recipient to ensure objectivity and confidentiality. This process may take two to three weeks. All applicants will receive notification by mail.
