Maya Alunkal receives the Dr. Jennie S. Hwang Scholarship Award
Geology major Maya Alunkal was selected as this year's winner of the Dr. Jennie S. Hwang Scholarship Award. This is the YWCA's Women of Achievement Award and recognizes an outstanding female sophomore or junior student who is majoring in a science, engineering or technology-related discipline, including life sciences and pre-med. The Award selection is based upon overall academic performance, leadership experiences, on-campus activities and off-campus volunteer and community service. Congratulations, Maya!

Katherine Crispin Receives Graduate Dean's Instructional Excellence Award
Katherine Crispin, a fourth year graduate student in the Department of Geological Sciences, was a recent recipient of the Graduate Dean's Instructional Excellence Award for 2008-09. The award is given to graduate students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in instruction, and who show exceptional skill and dedication in their work. Congratulations, Katherine!

Meeting the Challenges of Great Lakes Stewardship Conference
On March 27 - 28, Case Western Reserve University will be hosting a conference entitled "Meeting the Challenges of Great Lakes Stewardship." This conference will be attended by faculty, students, and community members from virtually all of the Great Lakes states as well as Quebec. The goal of the conference is to create a vibrant network committed to long-term stewardship of the Great Lakes ecosystem by an informed and engaged citizenry.
