Time, Where Does It Go?
It surprised me that how no matter what you do in college, you always seem to never have enough time.
I was excited about this weekend. For the first time in a month, I would actually be in Cleveland on a Sunday! The past three weekends, I have been in Indiana, either visiting friends at Indiana University or spending my short fall break at home. This weekend wasn't without its driving though. On Saturday, I had to drive down to Dayton for the unveiling of a portrait of my grandfather at the University of Dayton. He was a well-respected professor there for fifty-some years. In his honor, they are naming a classroom after him. The portrait will hang in the classroom. The three-and-a-half hour drive down there wasn't so bad, but the return trip was. After getting four hours of sleep the night before (due to the shindig here at the house), I was physically exhausted. I came close to falling asleep at the wheel on a few occasions. After realizing how bad I was, I put in some really ghetto cds that I hadn't heard in a while, blasted the stereo, and forced myself to sing to keep my awake. The trick worked. The last two-and-a-half hours of the drive were a piece of cake.
When I got back to the house, I discovered the prank which the pledges had pulled. They put yards upon yards of string everywhere in the house. String was tied to nearly everything. It looked like some demented obstacle course. When I went upstairs, furniture was scattered about everywhere. Not just any furniture, however, but the door to every single room in the house, including the bathrooms! I'll admit, I was very impressed with the prank, but I had to go to the bathroom pretty bad and I wasn't about to do so in an undignified way. I coerced Ben to help put the doors back on the bathroom, did my duty, then got ready for bed. It was the first time I've been asleep before 11PM in as long as I can remember. I slept like a baby and forced myself to get out of bed at 11:30 AM.
After an extended and refreshing shower, I plopped down to start working. I couldn't waste the opportunity to get my homework done. I managed to crank out half of my physics lab report before going to lunch in Coventry with Ben. When I got back, I somehow managed to waste a lot of time doing practically nothing. Those macho nachos from Que Tal really take their toll on you! Dinner quickly came at 6. Chapter was at 7. EC was immediately after chapter. When I was done with all of that, I was exhausted. When I got back to my room, I chatted with a few people on the computer while glancing at my homework. I just felt like sleeping.
Somehow I managed to get 2/3 of my statics done, 1/3 of my studying for my classics exam tomorrow, and about 1/3 of my physics. I decided I needed a break, so I decided to write this journal. Now that I'm feeling a little more alert (I'm excited because someone hooked me up with the Matrix Revolutions soundtrack and I saw the best music video ever!), I think I will head back to studying.
Hopefully I will find time this week to write the continuation from my first journal entry. I think it is best if everybody knows what I'm going through in terms of my illnesses. Anyways, I have work to do, and it is already past midnight! What can you do! I can only hope that I will feel well rested and energetic tomorrow.
