I've Got Rhythm, the Democrats Don't

Posted at July 30, 2004 12:50 AM in .

Strangely, one of my most vivid memories from the 1996 campaign trail was watching the Democrats sway to Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop." What struck me about this was the lack of beat the politicians felt. Al Gore and his wife were plainly clapping on the off-beat along with the Clintons. After watching the fireworks celebration that concluded the DNC, it is apparent the Democrats still haven't learned.

When the fireworks were over, John Williams, after directing the Boston Symphony, joined the candidates on stage. The Beatles' All You Need is Love started playing. It was an interesting scene indeed. Teresa Kerry was swaying and clapping nowhere even close to or in sync with the beat. After witnessing this off-beat swaying, John Williams finally took matters into his own hands by providing a steady, on-the-beat clap. I do not wish to be totally cynical of the Democrats and their musical ability, however. At least Teresa Kerry was singing along. John Kerry just wandered around the stage, looking pretty for the cameras. Can't politicians actually act like normal people once in a while? You just experienced probably the most important three days of your life and The Beatles are blaring over the speakers. Normal people sing along. You should too. Stop caring about looking good for the morning edition and let loose like a normal person.

Well, Graham Norton is back from commercial, so I gotta run.

Well anyway, my girlfriend and I where browsing BME and stumbled upon the pubic piercing. I've never heard of it before and talked it over with my girlfriend about the possible pros and cons. I talked to my local piercing studio to get some more information about it. I compiled quite a bit of facts about it from artists, BE stories, and also the vast abundance of information available on the internet from people around the world. After weighing them out we both decided it would be a pretty good idea and might pose some sexual uses too. Since we are both willing to try just about anything, I decided to do it. Getting this done and talking it over with our mate is a HUGE deal. This piercing will hinder your love life for a while and might freak some women out.
