I Live in Animal House
After partying late last night, my day began early with a call from Ari asking me if I wanted to help out with the Undergraduate Admission Saturday session. It was my fault for saying he could call me. In the end, it was probably a good thing that I woke up at the hour I did.
After taking a quick shower and rushing over to do some tedious work (and make 1.5x pay while doing it!), I spent the next four hours with the usual work crowd. When the program was over, four of us went out to Coventry for Que Tal. The macho nachos never tasted so good. I got back around 2:30, only to find the house still in ruins. It amazed me that nobody took the initiative to clean any part of the house. I promptly grabbed a trash bag, cleaned all the crap out of my room, then moved downstairs to do the Chapter Room, Study Room, and porch. Cody helped a bit; for that he needs to be commended. The house still looks a mess, but I didn't feel like cleaning it solely. Instead, I focused my time and energy on my own room. I mopped the floors for the second time this week. It amazes me that no matter how trashed my room (or myself) gets, it (and me) still manages to return to a nearly pristine (in the context of a fraternity) condition. My efforts paid off, for my room, unlike the rest of the house, doesn't smell. Supposedly one recent guest said our house smelled like a nursing home. Obviously they didn't visit my room.
After finishing cleaning, I spent a good chunk of time working on SARGE. I'm launching a hosting service on my computer so people can have a personalized full-functionality demo. I'm doing this so people can provide input during the development phase and so the university can use my product in time. If you are from Case and are interested, just check out the prior link.
I took a thirty minute break to edge the sidewalk in front of the house. The edger wasn't cooperating very well (I'm pretty sure the gas/oil mixture is off). For the condition of the sidewalk, I'm helpless without a souped-up edger. I could have spent a little more time and energy finishing the sidewalk, but quite frankly, I didn't feel like being the only person working on the house. We are expecting a whole bunch of plants and shrubberies tomorrow. They will need to be planted (preferably tomorrow). I can only speculate on whether people will feel like helping. Such is the psyche of this house. What can you do?
Well, I haven't had dinner yet, so I think I'll cook up a healthy chicken kiev. After that, I will probably continue working on SARGE. Boy, I'd love to get some money from this thing.
