Gearing Up for the VP Debate
I am a busy man this weekend. The VP debate is coming to campus on Tuesday and I volunteered my time to help and get involved with the festivities.
When I truthfully answered my availability questions over a month ago, I had no idea that they would literally schedule me for every hour I had put down I was available. On Saturday, I am working 8:30AM until 5:00 PM. Specifically, I am doing media accreditation. Supposedly, this involves checking in members of the media and getting them their credentials. This has the potential to be really cool, as I could meet some famous faces. If I check in anybody from CBS, I will be vigilant in verifying that their documents are filled out accurately. If Dan Rather himself checks in, I'm not sure how I will restrain myself. Anyway, I'm also working 9-5 on Sunday and 12:00 to 5 on Monday. Thankfully, I'm not working on Tuesday, so I will be able to fully enjoy the festivities around campus that day.
I can't believe all the opportunities that will be presented for me in the upcoming days! I will most likely attend a taping of CNN's Crossfire and possibly even Hard Ball with Chris Matthews. The campus environment will be energizing as well. The Ohio College Republicans are bussing in 750 students from campuses across the state. This should help with the minority conservative populations around here. It will be comforting to be surrounded by people who see the light. It has been especially difficult today, with all the closet Kerry supporters coming out and supporting him now that it appears he finally grew a backbone. We'll just see if he can stick with his stance for the weeks ahead. Judging by past actions, this is doubtful, but you never know.
Well, I have a long four days ahead of me and it is getting late, so I best be getting some sleep. I will try to post more pictures of the events around campus. It is doubtful I will get the opportunity to enter Debate Hall again, but there will be plenty of excitement elsewhere on campus to keep me preoccupied. I intend to live up every minute of this opportunity.
