What Defines You

Posted at February 28, 2005 10:59 PM in .

Have you ever taken the time to define yourself? Can you sum up your personality in a sentence or two? I'm not talking about the BS you put on a resume. If someone were to describe you, what do you think they should say? Is it what they would say? Now, please don't read between the lines here. I'm not trying to say something without saying it. I'm just asking a philosophical question.

How are you defined? Is it the way you act? Who your friends are? The type of music you listen to? What about you tells others the most about you? Can you point to something, a work, an achievement, and say that is the essence of you?

I'm not really sure what inspired this question. Something tells me it has something to do with the 23 minute recording of "The Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers that started playing about 16 minutes ago. Groovy. I'm really on a kick of listening to non-album recordings of popular artists lately. Some of these concerts by classic rock bands are simply amazing. If only I would have been alive to see all these fantastic bands in concert when they were in their prime. Who knows, perhaps music will get better in the next 30 years. I doubt it, but I won't give up hope.
