Microsoft Sets Target on LAMPS

Posted at June 15, 2005 11:42 AM in LinkBlog .

Total cost of operating eh? I have a LAMPS server on my personal desktop and it has been running fine for three years. Total cost, including operating system: $0 (excluding hardware). Time it took me to configure: No longer than it would take to properly set up a secure IIS server. (Is a secure IIS server even possible?) I'm sure it is, but then you have to figure in the TCD (total cost of downtime) for reboots after applying security updates.

Blog@Case runs on a LAMPS server. Why? Because it works.
