GPS on the Case Wiki

Posted at June 30, 2005 07:25 PM in Computing .

The Case Wiki now has the ability to associate a geographic coordinate with an entry. Now, when do the NextBus Greenie's arrive?

Example Pages:

If we found the coordinates of every building on campus, there are some API's to do some wicked cool things with Google maps and such. For example, we could start with a satellite picture of the campus and plot the locations of various bloggers on campus. Ever wanted to find out what people in the BRB were doing on a given day?

Feedmap.net allows you to map blog locations. See the sidebar on my blog (http://blog.case.edu/bcg8/).

I had this crazy idea where we use the google maps API with little icons for each building to do a campus map and make each building a link to the wiki page for the building.

PS i wish my initials coincided with something cool.

I already hacked together a quiock proof of concept, I'll blog about it tonight. It's too nice out to clean it up and blog now.

Ran into your post via google. I am gathering GPS data for paths and buildings on campus today for a different project (freshmen SAGES course section placement). Email me if you would like to make a project out of this... i have a few ideas for some.
