Moving Closer to a True Wiki
Some people have complained that the Case Wiki is not a true wiki because anonymous users cannot edit pages. The official response to that complaint has been that we desire the Case Wiki to be a place for the Case community to produce content for ourselves and the outside world. We also do not wish to see the power of the wiki abused by the anonymous voice. The abusive changes of anonymous editors would cause the Case Wiki to lose its credibility and would create more work for wiki maintainers, a situation not desirable. The Wikipedia can tolerate this because of its large user base of dedicated individuals, something that the Case Wiki, in its infancy, does not have.
However, the anonymous voice (individuals not affiliated with the university in this case) can provide benefits to the wiki. For this reason, we have decided to allow anonymous edits on the talk/discussion namespaces in the Case wiki. If you go to a normal article in the wiki, you will see a tab marked "Discussion." Every page has a corresponding talk page used for commenting on the article. These talk pages can now be edited by the world. Now, if there is something wrong with the article or if someone inquires about the contents of the article, they can post a comment on the article instead contacting the wiki administrators as they have been doing.
We are optimistic that this change will foster collaboration.
As an endnote, it would be sad if abuse causes us to revert our change. Time will tell.
