Too Many Newsletters

The case-foo e-mail lists are bad. Today, I received an e-mail from the Observer addressed to case-undergrads@case.edu . The e-mail only contained two events... hardly an informative e-mail at all. Did this newsletter provide me an option to unsubscribe? No. However, you can unsubscribe, it just means you are deprived of all e-mails sent to case-undergrads@case.edu, some of which I might find relevant.

I hate information being pushed at me. If I want to be informed of something, I should subscribe to an e-mail list or syndicated feed. Or, I should be able to go to ONE location to find information about everything. Of course, the issue of aggregating and publishing that information becomes a challenge. The Case Portal allows you to see many sources of information, but only this blog system and the Case Wiki allow any Joe Schmoe to actually publish information.

If information is being pushed at me, at least give me the ability to selectively opt out of the service, not an all-or-nothing system as currently in place.
