When Not to Blog
Teen Guilty Of Manslaughter After Online Confession
The teen's blog entry was used as evidence to aid in his conviction in the case. This reiterates the mentality that people still think that what they do online, either in chat rooms, Facebook, or blogs somehow doesn't get traced back to you and the internet is a safe haven for free speech made by your alternate ego. It is my understanding that Case Residence Life uses Facebook to look for evidence supporting infractions. I've even heard a statistic that there have been more infractions supported by online evidence (Facebook, photo galleries, etc) than those not. Still, freshmen still belong to the "Friday Night Drinking Crew" (or similar) Facebook group. I wonder when people will finally get the message...
