Settling In
Things are finally settling in here in California. The last few weeks have been rather long and I'm happy to say sanity has finally returned to my life. It is relaxing to not have to worry about running all around to do this or that, although there still are a few things here and there (purchase a bed, other furniture, etc). At least with work, life is calm for 8 hours of the day.
I don't feel like putting together an elegant post, so I'll just post some random thoughts.
- It is depressing that I could buy a nice house in the midwest for what I am paying in rent (well over $1000/mo)
- I enjoy feeding the ducks that swim 5 ft from my patio
- After butchering the name on my account and sending me an invoice off by ~$25, Comcast really needs to get their act together.
- Why does it take 30s for lists.case.edu to show me what lists I am subscribed to? It took me about 30 minutes to unsubscribe from all the lists I was on. Yet, I am still receiving the Case Daily and e-mails from the EECS department regarding student affairs. Yay for e-mail filters.
- It is exciting to be working for a company that is living on the cutting edge of a market and will compete with the Google's and Yahoo's of the world.
- I love how the California DMV just invalidates your old driver's license and expects you to carry around a half-sheet of paper that says "temporary license." Even Indiana prints the cards right after they take your picture. Good grief.
- Apple's decision to not allow 3rd party applications on the iPhone most likely sealed the deal on my never getting one.
- My Garmin Nuvi is an invaluable asset for finding my way around a new city
- I could spend all day in Fry's
- I love walking around in a t-shirt and grinning at everybody in layers
