An all-around good article about the history of sound compression and why most CD's released today just plain suck from a sound perspective. Personally, this is why I have a difficult time buying musical CD's. As good as the band may be, it just doesn't sound good to my ears. There are days when I can't even listen to some modern albums because the over compression irritates me.
