  • Assistant Director of Major Gifts, Development and Alumni Affairs, Case School of Engineering (Job 8246), minimum annual salary is $46,421, posted 10/09/08

    The assistant director of major gifts will have primary responsibility for the solicitation of individual gifts for Case Western Reserve University from its natural constituency and beyond ($25,000-$ 100,000 and up). This position will be charged to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward 150-200 prospects for the Case School of Engineering. This position will require that approximately 80 percent of their time be on direct face-to-face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, with the expectation that they will be fully responsible for all individual major gift activity within the school.     The Weatherhead School of Management Career Advising & Employer Relations Manager is responsible for building solid, value adding, positive relationships with Corporate/Client partners, Students, Faculty and Alumni. The quality of the relationships (strength and depth) and a clear understanding of individual and organizational needs are essential to effectively generate career opportunities, facilitate student career search/interview preparation and successful student placement in internship roles or full-time employment.     Manage assigned design and construction projects; support the goals and objectives of the Office of Construction Services and the mission of the Case Western Reserve University.     The Associate Director for Public Services provides leadership in planning, coordinating and managing Law Library services, programs and collections to support the Law School’s education and research missions.     The Office of Undergraduate Studies oversees the academic aspects of student affairs at Case Western Reserve University for the 4000 students in baccalaureate degree programs offered by the constituent faculties of the University Undergraduate Faculty (the College of Arts and Sciences, the Case School of Engineering, the Weatherhead School of Management, the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, and several departments in the School of Medicine); participates in curricular discussions within and among the constituent faculties, initiating discussions aimed at enhancing the undergraduate academic experience; and collaborates with the division of Student Affairs in pursuit of an integrated academic and co-curricular experience for undergraduates at the University.
    The Office is responsible for academic advising and registration of all new and returning undergraduate students, evaluation and awarding of transfer credit and advanced placement credit earned at other institutions or by examination, monitoring academic progress (probation, separation, dean’s lists), monitoring scholarship status, communication and enforcement of academic regulations and degree requirements, certification of candidates for degrees, advising for Integrated Graduate Studies, and advising for post-graduate professional schools and for post-graduate fellowships.     As a member of the professional staff in the Office of Undergraduate Studies, the Assistant Dean serves as the principal point of contact with the Office of Undergraduate Studies for a cohort of approximately 1000 upperclass students and their faculty advisors and instructors, monitoring and supporting the academic progress and personal welfare of these students, and working with them to enhance their academic experience at Case Western Reserve University. In this role, the Assistant Dean will advise and counsel students on a wide range of academic, personal, and administrative matters, collaborating with faculty, other academic resources, and support services, as appropriate. The Assistant Dean will share responsibility for general advising about careers in the health professions and will serve as the primary pre-health advisor to students in his or her cohort, preparing dean’s letters and certifications, as requested. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for working with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies to support academic advising in the majors and minors, coordinating meetings and communication with Department Representatives and faculty about advising issues and other academic policies. The incumbent will be expected to participate in the broad range of activities and programs offered by the Office of Undergraduate Studies in support of the overall mission of the Office.
