Professional, Non-technical - Service Staff Opportunities

Salary offers are extended by Human Resources and will depend on available funding, candidates' relevant experience and education, internal equity, and external market data.

  • Licensing Associate (Life Sciences), Technology Transfer Office (Job 8250), minimum annual salary is $43,446, posted 10/13/08

    First, the licensing associate is responsible for negotiating material transfer agreements and non-disclosure agreements that flow through the Technology Transfer office. Full responsibility for these documents includes recording receipt of the document, diligently pursuing the completion of each agreement by communicating and negotiating with the other party to the agreement in coordination with the case manager for the agreement, obtaining necessary signatures on final agreements and distributing completed agreement to all parties involved. Negotiation of these agreements is a highly technical task, both scientific and legal, and requires an understanding of university policy governing the office’s position on a variety of negotiable items.
    Second, the licensing associate, in concert with, and/or support of, the more senior licensing positions in the Technology Transfer office, is responsible for: the identification, evaluation and disposition of invention disclosures by Case faculty, staff, and students; obtaining appropriate protection of inventions; vigorously marketing Case-developed technologies in the School of Medicine to industry; and structuring and negotiating complex licensing agreements; participating in the development of initiatives to inform and educate Case faculty about technology transfer and nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship at the Case.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Experience
    Two to three years experience in a biomedical research environment, handling biological materials. Two to three years of experience in a research or university setting, working with or processing MTAs and NDAs is preferred.

    Education
    A Bachelor’s degree in a life science field (e.g., biology, chemistry, genetics) is required. Post-graduate work in biology, chemistry, other life science-based field, or graduate business program (e.g., M.B.A) is strongly preferred.
